^ yep. When I was in the military, and moving every 1-4 years (for 24 years), we tended not to accumulate a lot of junk.

Now, after being in the same house for 11 years, I'm getting the itch to move again and toss 2/3rds of the crap we have.

I would love/hate to be in a moving situation. I'd hate to have to go through and decide on everything, but I'd love to have the reduction in stuff. I've gotten Dad to the point where he'll let me get rid of stuff that we obviously have no use for. Things like bed sheets that don't fit the beds we have, old shoes, old sleeping bags, etc. That stuff gets tossed. I need to start some bags/boxes for Goodwill.

We've been doing the same thing, both at home and the shop.

The shop is a difficult one!

I always keep spare parts hanging around. Any time I have spare brake parts, good bolts and nuts, wiring odds, pieces of hose, etc I throw them in a coffee can or box. Those then get rifled through every time someone needs something.

I don't like it when people hang on to full out broken things though. If the bolt is stripped, it goes in the scrap metal pile. If the lightbulb is burnt out, it goes in the garbage.

We use to be a VW factory authorized service center so with that we had tons of VW dealer propaganda. Also had the dealer parts system which included the VW microfiche machine and about 1000 microfiche's. After sitting on the shelf for almost 10 years we are finally going to get rid of it. Tons of old VW training films ... etc. Collectors buy this stuff almost instantly.

Advertising stuff sure piles up quick. I took it upon myself to clean and organize our upstairs storage when I was at Ford. I threw out hundreds of posters, signs, and such. Every month or two we would get a new sales package. Every time they would send at least 10 tire insert signs, several posters, desk mats, window clings, and suction cups. We would use maybe 4 or 5 items and the rest got shoved upstairs. Until I got my hands on them, threw out all the extras instead of storing them.

Boss was a pack rat, no one else cared, I finally got fed up with it and cleared it all out. Then everyone was amazed at how much space we had.

I'm so tempted to recommend a decent point and shoot...is there anything without shutter lag?

The Canon G-Series cameras are pretty good on shutter lag and they will shoot in RAW which, to me at least, is an advantage.

Yesterday, I wore a long-sleeved shirt for the first time since last winter.

I wore jeans yesterday for the first time in six months and I'm currently sitting in my office in flannel pants, slippers and a fleece sweatshirt. It's 68° in here and 58° outside (F.)

I know how you feel. We live in a 1200 square foot house and must have 3500 square feet of stuff. And the six cats and one dog doesn't make it any larger. We just bought a small tent trailer from Heather's parents and we now have a bunch of duplicate camping gear we don't need. Our tenants have expressed an interest in some of it so hopefully we can unload it.

Some things are nice to have duplicates of, but other stuff not so much. My next intended target is the cupboard that doesn't get used much anymore. We have a soup can rack on the one shelf, and a bunch of cans/boxes of other food stuff on the other shelf. As kids, we ate a lot of soup since it was something that we could easily make ourselves and would make for school lunches. Nowadays it just holds stuff that doesn't get looked at much. I'm gonna move the stuff to the pantry downstairs or other cupboards and repurpose the space. I have a whole bunch of cast iron cookware that really doesn't have a home other than on the stove or in the oven.

Same here, the same day I wore long sleeves. My legs aren't used to big-boy pants, well, except for when I'm at work.

I love it when it first starts to get chilly. I don't even mind that it's dark when I go to work and dark when I get home.

Our temperature has been bouncing around. We're supposed to be up to 16C today, but snowing by the weekend. Night temps have been just below freezing. On sunny days I am still wearing shorts. Wore a skirt on Sunday and it was only a few degrees above freezing, but the sun was shining.

We have warmed up to the high 50s/low 60s but it has been a constant down pour of rain today.

That would be sandals, t-shirt, and short pants weather around here.

It's funny how quickly one gets acclimated to a new climate. I was like that when I lived in IL as well especially in the spring after a cold winter. Here however, the temps get to 60 and you start seeing winter coats and boots.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

That's the weather when the grass starts growing like crazy again. Great late summer/early fall weather.
