I know some of us NEVER venture out of this thread. Did we all see Pekka's announcement?

thanks for the update...

10 years of coming here almost daily I am a bit 'concerned' about learning a new system. I know it's really trivial... lol

It's 10:36 pm, the sky is clear, the stars are shining, it's -5C/23F, and we've got heavy frost already. The rest of the leaves aren't gonna be hanging around much longer.

Looks interesting. I'm a member of so many different forums with different looks and procedures, it shouldn't be a problem adapting to the new POTN.

It's cooled off a little, but its still comfortable here. Of course, we have lots of people that just refuse the embrace winter and wear shorts and flip-flops year around no matter what the weather. I'm still running around bare footed outside.

The majority of the forums I am one seem to use vBulletin. One site where I moderate, they are getting very frustrated with it, and looking at most recent reviews, it seems many other site admins are too. These folk are thinking of getting new forum software, I wonder if Pekka is planning to market his.

I'm thinking not. Once you release the code, it can be manipulated and hacked. By Pekka keeping his code private it adds a level of protection that vBulletin and other platforms can't offer.

He sure has put a ton of work into though, and if he could make some good coin on it, well........

It is a stunning piece of work. I hope all appreciate his efforts and all he does without asking for a dime.

No question about it.

When I used to use the site more regularly, I used to donate the equivalent of a magazine subscription every year. It was a method for me to determine a value, though it has proved to be a much better resource than any magazine.

Is he still taking donations (I couldn't quickly find the old 'donate' button), and planning to keep doing so?

He doesn't really advertise it. But if you go to the Feedback Forum Section there is a Sticky Donate for forum costs, page up.

This is his link to the direct donation link.

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/donate.php

That's the only way to find it in AMASS as well. Many members link to it in their signatures as well.
