Very true how some approach change in such a negative way, without ever trying to give it a chance. I bet there ancestors were horrified that someone crawled onto the back of a horse.

Same with Facebook, and when they make changes, some folks just like to complain before ever giving it a chance. I always suggest they ask for their money back.

These fiberglass trailers last a long, long time. Way more than the typical stick built. That is one reason we bought one of them new 6 years ago. We use it lots and love it. Right now I pretty much have it stripped this old trailer of all its components, like appliances, windows, all gas, plumbing and electrical. I got it for what is considered a very good deal at $1,000. I will reuse as many of the old components as possible, but there still is tons of work to do. I plan to do it up real nice for her, including a paint job. I expect to invest around $3,000 into it, but for $4k, and a whole bunch of fun sweat equity, she will have a great trailer to use for years. It is a bit of a selfish move too, so that they don't have an excuse not to come out camping with us, and bring the future grandkids along too. ;)

We just got ourselves a small tent trailer. We bought it from Heathers' parents in Arizona. It's designeed for towing behinda a motorcycle, but we'll be using either Heather's SUV or my truck.

I haven't had an opportunity to take any pictures of it yet, but here's one on the web:

Quick trip to the auction company (5kms one way) and grocery store, and my new treasures are home. The aebleskiver pan is a fair bit smaller than it looked in the online photos, but I don't care. The roaster is in rough shape, fair bit of pitting in the bottom, but that doesn't matter as much in a roaster as it would in a frying pan. The roaster had been painted red, and the lid painted white at some point. The e-tank should take that off easily. Not sure what I'm going to do with the fish thing. It kinda looks like a rosette, but it's a solid bottom, or at least it used to be.

Roaster is in the e-tank right now, not sure how well it's going to work with ice floating in it.

I've got to get me a good roaster. That's one piece that we are sorely missing. Our grill is really nice, the cast iron is suck a efficient heat distributor that it grills to perfection, but a roaster would be nice.

Cast iron is wonderful for how it handles heat. I sure hope this roaster turns out well, I have some of the old black granite ware roasting pans that work great, but I think cast iron would be better for things that I want to cook for a long time.

I don't know if you have the Harbor Freight stores near you but they have cheap sand blasters the except multiple types of media for relatively little money. I'm sure you could find different uses for it as well.

Princess Auto (the Canadian Harbor Freight equivalent) had this sand blaster on for $150 a couple weeks ago, and I nearly bought it just to have around. I have a 60 gal air compressor that should run it just fine. The fact they are so darn messy is the only thing that stopped me, and there are a couple commercial places here you can take your stuff in to sand blast, and do it yourself.

Boy Mel, if your were to ever move, and had to hire a moving company, the weight charges would kill you. :)

You sure do seem to have a great selection of cast iron. I know we have a Dutch oven and a few frying pans we use all the time, but that's it.

The mess of a handheld sandblaster is a big deterrent. I am used to having access to cabinet blasters. The baking soda blaster that the college has would be wonderful to use, but it's used for engine components.

At this point in my life I have no desire to move out of the neighbourhood. If I had the money I would buy the neighbour's place that they've abandoned, tear the house and garage down, and build new.

My daughter asked me to take her daughter's senior pics. This is one of 'em. A lot of firsts for me: First real attempt at portraits; senior pics; use of off-camera flashes; umbrellas and stands; triggers. She's a beautiful subject, which didn't hurt :-)

nice attempt, however, I am sure you are aware that you only have one eye in focus... intentional to use such a low dof?

Looking at all the pictures I took that day with this lens (100mm f/2.8L macro), I believe it's front focusing. I MFA'd it for macro work a while back; maybe it needs different settings for regular distances. I was intentionally using a thin DoF earlier for outside shots of her, to blur the background. Guess I didn't change the aperture for closer-up indoor shots.
