I knew a family who drive out to the middle of no where to get a tree. It was quite an adventure as well. They got out in the woods and the daughter was pretty much frozen and the guy forgot the saw. They did find a wonderful perfect tree that they yanked out including the root ball and tethered it to the station wagon for the rife home. It wound up being a bit large for their home and broke out a window when he cut the rope wrapped around it. It was also very fresh and got sap all over the guy to the point he couldn't even read a magazine.

I felt bad though cause the guys cousin came into town unannounced and brought the family including the dog. Dog drank the tree water which dried out the tree in short order. Crazy old uncle comes for dinner and starts the tree on fire and part of himself. The guy winds up having to replace the tree with one in his yard.

Wonder what ever happened to him?

For me, a Christmas tree just has to be real. The tree alone then offers up a natural beauty, as well as fills the air with a great scent. Much better for the environment too. :)

We harvested our own many times when the kids were little, and a couple times since they flew the coop, but mostly now just go buy from the Boy Scouts.

Sure will be nice to have a real computer again. This works nice on a phone, but it is so much easier on a real monitor and with a real keyboard.

That's pretty much what we do. We have a 9' artificial tree and then we buy wreaths for the fresh pine smell.

When the kids were younger we would go out to the national forest, get a permit and cut down a tree. It was good fun.

That's what we did this year. Costco had a really nice 7.5 foot LED prelit for about double the price of a real tree. Nice to be able to put it up early and not have all the needles falling all over.

BTW, found at H.Depot today these xmas sticks. They look like giant incense but thick and they are concentrated xmas tree smell. Very nice.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Why not?
Or are you afraid they might do this?

Skating season is here!

We have lots of arenas in the county and most of them have public skating times, but only two of them have skating times on Saturdays. Clearwater arena, in the city, has Saturday skating. Price is $2 per person, no skate buddies, no hockey sticks, and absolutely no room to move. It's packed full every time. Everyone has to skate in the same direction, at the same speed.

The other arena, The Legacy Centre, in Thedford is my preferred location. It's 60kms outside of the city, so city folks probably don't even know that it exists. Clearwater Arena was built in 1975, The Legacy Centre is about 4 years old. They have one of the changing rooms open so there is lots of space to get skates on, they provide skate buddies, the ice is zamboni'd, no one actually collects the $2 fee, and hardly anyone shows up. Today was rather busy with 21 people on the ice.

Austin was grounded so I only had Elizabeth with me today, and my friend Jeff met us there. Lizzy started out with a skate buddy, mainly because she figured out how to get going fast and then lean on it so she'd go sliding. I convinced her to leave it behind and skate on her own. She can now make it about 6 feet before falling down, but she can then get up and going again on her own. Far from last year when she was just learning to stand up on the ice without falling. Having a constant case of the giggles doesn't help with the balance.
