I used to have Tuesday Fridays as well, it was great! Until the real Friday rolled around and it was my Monday.

Well Friday will be my Saturday, because Saturday will be my Sunday since I start my work-week on Sunday which makes it my Monday. On my short weeks, like this one, Monday is my humpday so it's kinda like a Wednesday. On my long weeks there is no humpday since it's an even number of days (I work 12-hour shifts), so Sunday is my Monday, Monday and Tuesday are just like two half Wednesday-Thursdays, and Wednesday is my Friday, Thursday and Friday being my Saturday-one and Saturday-two, Saturday... as always... my Sunday again.

Some folks never retire. My dad is 72 and still works full time doing the same work he started doing almost 50 years ago. He's a commercial photographer. My dad just LOVES his job, LOVES IT. I have no idea when he'll retire.

That's really great Chet, and I know two college professors who are working well into their late 70's and thoroughly enjoying it.

I enjoyed my job up until the last two years. It was fun and challenging. Then there was a change in management. Then it wasn't fun anymore.

25 year old? Oh boy! All I can tell you is that if you want to retire in 30 years instead of 40 or 50 years, START SAVING NOW!

I could have retired 7 years sooner if I had begun saving when I was in my mid 20's rather than mid 30's.

It's difficult on my current paycheck to put much away but I always make sure(well at least for the past two months since I've had this job) to put in at least what my employer will match. I really love my current job, I work as a media developer/graphic designer for a non-profit that does outdoor and experiential education. However that non-profit sized paycheck comes with its own downsides... I really can't wait for wedding season to be back that extra money makes a big difference.

My dad is the same. He retired once about 12 years ago, which lasted about 2 months before he went back to work doing a similar job for another company. He has been at the new place ever since and is currently contemplating putting in for a lower paying job with the same people that would basically make him a grunt worker. He wants to keep working and doing what he does but he is getting tired of the responsibility of being in management.

Why wouldn't you enjoy a job where you can bust out the baton and crack someone over the head everyday? Or at least do the accidental taser thing on co-workers.

I understand that perfectly. I've considered selling my business and going to work for someone.

Those things are frowned upon these days. The department is too worried about liability to let us have any fun. Too many damned lawyers in this town.

Took a bit to find it but this is Moose the police dog, circa 2004, relaxing in the trunk of a 66 Dart.

Retire = carrot on a stick. The closer you get, the farther away the carrot looks.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
