Slower than 76% of Canada. That's horrible. :(

I feel sad for you. I get 5.21 down and 3.51up on my cell phone. My high-speed net at home is on par with Wooly's.

That's what my cellphone was getting on the home wifi. On LTE I get 6.27 down and 5.79 up, on 3 bars of signal.

pretty crazy that your cell is faster than your "high speed internet"

Yeah, we're in a bad location for internet. 5 kms outside of town and we can't get cable TV, cable internet, decent phone lines, city water, natural gas, etc. Our TV options are antenna or satellite. Internet is dial-up, cell based, line-of-sight, or satellite. If we own the land, we could get a water line run from the main road to the house, at our expense. Neighbours did that and it cost them $15,000, but their well was contaminated. We have a geothermal furnace rather than renting a propane tank.

Used to have Bell's Rural service that was line of sight, it maxed out at 2 down. And since it was line of sight we were limited to where the receiver could be located. Wanted to have it on the TV tower, but that would have meant cutting down a mature Sugar Maple. Ended up mounting it on the deck where it could "see" under the tree, past the grain bin, and over the railroad. Every time a train went by it would partially block the signal and everything would grind to a halt.

Purple bar has been temperamental again. :-x The editor box has been too, don't know if it's related or not. The rest of my internet surfing has been running fine, so I know the connection is good.

I went out and bought my own cable modem so I don't have to pay the monthly lease fee.

With the old Comcast docsis 2 modem I was getting 14ms pings, 34.51 down and 5.79 up

New modem:

Considering I live out in the sticks, I'm happy with that.

Must be nice to have cable modem and be out in the sticks! If I walk over to the railroad and look west, I can see town. 5 kms. It's "too far" for the companies to run cable out to.

The only reason we have it out here is that the cable company has a line from their antennas on the top of the mountain. The fiber line goes down the road we live on. Otherwise I am certain we would be SOL.

We are part of a broadband "initiative"...the goal is to have full broadband coverage in the county. They are over 90% now...some of the more remote areas are going to take some time and effort.

This is the latest upgrade here. I don't feel too bad considering I live 10 miles outside the city.
