Santa brought me the flu for Christmas :(

Suchs Mel. Hope you get better soon. Did you get a flu shot this year? I still have to get mine.

No. I usually don't. I don't find that it has ever kept me from getting it. And while I am young/healthy enough to not have complications, I'd rather just not be injected with all the rest of the ingredients.

Merry Christmas .... if a bit late. I've just spent a few days at the beach. Christmas was at my wife's cousins place. Fantastic view of the southern end of the Gold Coast and Northern NSW from the hinterlands. Weather has turning rainy so it was a good thing we were planning to head home.

Nice trains Dan, colours really pop!

Get well Mel.

Very nice, Dan. The EMD E and F units have always been my favorite diesel locomotives. I wish we had one at our museum. There are a couple nearby that we'd like to get, but the owner is being unreasonable. They are of no use to him, but he won't let them go.

I don't have my own pictures of them, but here's one on Rail Pictures.

Not particularly fond of hospitals, but sometimes it's necessary. Skyrocketing fever is not good.

I did. Spent three hours in emerge, they were definitely concerned about how high the fever went. I'm supposed to go back today for a chest x-ray and blood work.
Small town hospitals are great for getting into emerge quickly, but x-ray and the lab are closed at night. Going to the city would mean a lot longer wait.

I'm back to work today :(

But we had the best Christmas ever. I was trying to think of the last time my three kids have been under the same roof for Christmas with us; may have been about 17 years ago. Our big sleep-over, 15 people and four dogs, wasn't hecktic or as bothersome as one might think. We had a great time over the past four days; non-stop games, eating, and just fun in general. Christmas morning around the tree, it looked like a bomb had exploded inside a wrapping-paper factory. It's sad that most have left now; my son from South Carolina and his wife will still be with us today and tomorrow... at least I'll get to spend a few more hours with them in the evenings.

Hope you all had a grand Christmas.

Feel better, Mel. I hope it's nothing too serious.

We managed to keep Christmas small this year. Just the immediate family and spouses. Dad, us 4 kids, 3 spouses, and 2 kids, and 1 dog.

King crab was Christmas dinner here as well. Looks like somebody has a new train too.

He kept asking Santa for something different...

cars
blocks
a ship
a train...

so what could we do? ended getting all of the above.

the ship is actually a giant fort that you can colour in. keeps him off the walls at least!

oh and every kid should have the Polar Express ;)

As a kid I spent my summers in Georgia and use to catch those box turtles all the time. They are surprisingly hard to find even though the woods as filled with them.
