ahhh the "any excuse for some drinks".... some turn into many :D

Exactly! Last night I went out for "a beer" with a couple of my co-workers and offered to buy a pitcher for everyone to split. After we finished that one the other two said that they couldn't let me be the only one to buy drinks to they each took a turn at buying a pitcher. The bar tender also thought we were hilarious so she gave us a round of free shots.

... I had no intention of any of that happening when I bought that first pitcher :-D

Oh yeah... not happened here, but back home, I would bump into my coworker waiting for the bus home... so we would say "fancy a pint?"...

get off the bus downtown, get a pint at the pub...

then texts to our wives, who would join us eventually...

but then it was happy hour. so you order your drinks, then there would be a screen behind the bar, with a dial moving back and forth. barman would give you the "magic red button". you pressed it. whatever the dial landed on, you paid. worst case was "full price" aka, what you'd buy it for anyhow. but then there were free drinks, 2-for-1, half price, drinks for £1 as well.

so 1 casual pint after work always turned into about 7+ :D

this would be a weekday too :D

shame people aren't as social here... or at least in boston.

I love the idea of the bouncing dial to decide price, and how it would get harder and harder the more you drank. We have a bar here that has a wheel where its $2 to spin and you could get anything from a shot of water to Irish Car Bombs, or a pint of your choosing. They also play a game called Drink **** during the week when they aren't too busy, the first person to recognize the artist and the title of the song that comes on the radio shouts it out and if they are right they get a free pint and the rest of the people at the bar are supposed to take a swig.

I guess I'm either a lightweight or a cheap date. Even if it was spread out over several hours and included dinner, after 7 pints I'd be out cold sleeping. :-|

For winter wear, I never wear any one heavy winter item, I much prefer to layer.

That's what I do when we go to the mountains or when it's extra cold at home. The layers are ordinary garments, not specialized micro-tech-fiber-whatevers. Then I have the icky feeling of having a sleeve bunched up or twisting under another sleeve. It's a trade-off. Too much bulk and you can't move freely, and puffy jackets eat up your storage space. Canadian houses must have big closets.

I think they should have to finish their drink, but I believe they just keep playing until someone gets it right. Usually it gets too crowded for the game by 9:30 or 10 but its a lot of fun if you can get there early enough to participate.

Those are some awesome shots, I especially like the Tilt-Shift shots.
Thanks for sharing.

I keep my winter outerwear in a hockey bag when not in use. The heavy work coats get hung up in a closet somewhere.

Having to own clothing for a wide range of weather does require a fair bit of space, especially when you add specialized work and sports clothing into the mix.
I am not a "shoe person" in the sense that a lot of women are, but I sure do own a lot of footwear. It all gets used though.

I don't think I'd make it anywhere near 7 pints. Never have had more than two drinks in one day. Personal choice. But, unless I'm with a friend who lives out my way, there is no way for me to get home other than driving.

Get it wrong, they have to buy a pint for a random stranger.

I like this rule, I'm going to suggest it next time I'm in. It profits everyone: The bar sells a drink, the stranger gets a pint, and the individual learns to be more carefull

Could work out even better if the stranger the individual is buying a pint for is unattached and of the desired gender.
