Ah, basically POTN and Reddit have become my preferred social media outlets as of late. I stopped following facebook as it became more and more about pushing "top stories" which are mostly "10 things to..." list or "HEY LOOK HOW CUTE MY BABY IS!" I never did really get into twitter or instagram since they just seemed too limited. Why oh why cant we have Facebook circa 2008 back.

My big complaint with Facebook is the amount of politics people are pushing onto there. I have a cousin in Philadelphia who is a liberal academic and she post an appalling amount of left-wing political material.

Sorry, I'll try to get some samples posted later this week, but since we have dry weather, I need to get some outdoor projects done around the house before it rains again on Saturday.

At the regular prices of $69+ I would hope it was a decent experience. :-D Interesting blog. I enjoyed reading it and bookmarked it for the future.

Next weekend includes the Martin Luther King holiday, so all the wineries around here are doing a "Wine Road - Winter WIneland" (external link) event. The DUI arrest rate usually doubles and so do the accident rates. Nothing like mixing drinking and driving on poorly maintained, narrow, and winding country roads. :-(

I'm not sure where you're located in California, but some of the stores down there get amazing deals in wine. There's been an Atlas Peak series in the bay area that has been getting rave reviews. Ardente Cabernet. They had everything from the 98 to the 2006 I think, at $10 a bottle. We hadn't seen anything like that here.

When we do our vineyard tours, there's always a designated driver. Often times it is Dan. He brings his camera and does Vineyard and winery shots and I post them on my own blog along with the Vineyard reviews.
https://permiesworld.wordpress.com …ne-drouhin-estate-oregon/ (external link)

And it's great that you're getting your project done. I have too many piling up around here. I'll keep checking back to see the photos.

That's not FB, that's the people who are on it. I have a cousin like that as well but she posts all these motivational things.

I like FB; it's a cool way to see what's going on in my kids' and grandkids' lives without being intrusive. They like posting pics of whatever they're up to. We have a good time on it going back and forth.

I have recently culled my FB account to a few select people mostly very close family for the same reasons as you. I wish FB would have several tiers allowing for better filtering. Maybe a tag like "this is junk" so I can filter out all the junk.

They have that tag. Except they use it as a flag to send you more of the same. If you click "Like", they'll show you less of that content. Yeah, I know.

I'm the same way. If I weren't on FB, I wouldn't see half the things my kids and grandkids have been doing.

Jon, this was supposed to be a reply to your post...don't know why it didn't add the quote. Still figuring out this software.

You can click on an arrow across from a person's name and it will give you the option to "stop seeing posts from (whomever) but still stay friends".

I cleared out my FB a while back though. Just kept it to family and close friends. It was before that option and I was so tired of all the politics and Meme and games...the list is still longer than I like but the "stop seeing posts" has helped.

Did better than me. I did just over a mile and a half and was sooooo ready to be done. Lifting went well though.

I'm not talking about the FB adds, it's posts and re-posts by family members.

The easy solution is to use the unfollow option...they remain your friends, but their crap doesn't appear in your news feed. If you want to see what they are up to, you just go to their page and check it out.

so 1 casual pint after work always turned into about 7+ :D

this would be a weekday too :D

shame people aren't as social here... or at least in boston.

I think it is an age thing. I used to do this all the time, sometimes every day of the week.

Same here, I enjoy keeping tabs on friends and family. There are some who post a lot of stuff I don't really care about, I just skim past that stuff as a glance will give me the gist of things.

I do have one long time friend who I am thinking of dumping, or blocking, as he is extremely left wing in his politics, and is constantly posting stuff about how the Conservatives are screwing things up. This I don't mind so much, but he never, ever, posts what would be a better alternative. Plus, some of the poster type stuff he posts, anyone could make and put on whatever fits their agenda.
