I like the idea of having the car charger, but have never had to use it.

I always carry an inverter in the car. I've only used it a few times but when you need one it is handy to have. I use it more for the laptop than the camera.

When it comes to Facebook posts, there is such a wide range of topics that can get annoying simply from overexposure.
My neighbour is one of those who post the 'who is paying attention' chain letter types. A handful of people are very much into 'if it's not all natural it's going to kill you' type things. This past summer I got into several debates with them over sunscreen. I burn so readily that I consider myself an expert on what sunscreen works for me and what does not. I refuse to give coconut oil a "try" when a) it's an oil, b) it only has an spf of 8, c) it's not in an aerosol can, and d) the results of a failure will cause a lot of pain.

But, what really irks me, is the relentless non-stop posting of selfies. And then the resulting ego-inflating compliments from every other selfie lover. It has become such a "look at me, tell me I'm pretty" need for attention.
The only time I, or my close friends, post selfies is when we are somewhere, or doing something, interesting. When my friends and I went to Chicago last year we posted some selfies on Facebook, not as a "look at me" but more of a "we're here and having fun". I've posted some from when I take Austin and Elizabeth out skating, skiing, shopping, etc.

I have one that lives in the truck. Small enough that it fits in a door pocket, but it has two outlets and will power/run just about anything reasonable. Very handy when you're on a roadtrip or camping and the vehicle is your only source of power.

If only, if only, could have landed some of those sweet sweet minority scholarships!

Back to the filter post that I'm following. Do any of you guys put the lens cap back in the box as soon as you get the lens, never to be used again, and just keep a filter on your lens full time? Even if you keep a protective filter on your lens, why wouldn't you cap it when not in use? Seems like just puting the camera in and taking it out of your bag might scuff the filter. This makes no sense to me.

The threads about the center pinch lens caps so they can be easily removed with a hood on the lens are the ones I've never understood. Apparently some people are paranoid enough about their lenses that they feel they have to replace the lens cap after each and every shot. After they've missed that "once-in-a-lifetime" shot several time, they won't be so quick to put the cap on.

In almost 50 years of photography, I've never used protective filters on my lenses. It's just one more layer of glass between the subject and the sensor. And in most cases I don't even take my lens caps with me when I go into the field. The only time I use lens caps is when the lenses are stored at home.

That is my biggest pet peeve. The narcissism crowd. Mostly though I don't unfriend them but I will the ones that go off on a tangent about their personal beliefs or points of view being the only right one and everyone else is just wrong. I can't stand it when, just because someone disagrees with something, everyone else who doesn't agree with them is wrong. So they don't get hidden, they get removed.

lol!! What did you do now?

You know what I'm talking about...mostly the "tolerance preaching (and oddly lacking in) tolerance" set. I think that everyone has a right to their viewpoint, just not to be abusive or denigrating to others in the process. I have uber conservative and uber liberal friends. Most know how to be polite even when expressing deep convictions.

So long as you preach the virtues of beer, or better yet, distilled beer, I don't mind. :)
