We really need some trains around here, other than normal cargo trains.

Those are not all from here. The misty train shot is from north of Sault Ste Marie, ON which is 600 kms from here. The trestle bridge one is from Parry Sound, ON which is about 400 kms away. The lake shot is local.

In the fall of 2013 I took a "Train Vacation". My friend Chris and I drove up to the Soo (around the west side of Lake Huron, through Michigan) and spent two days on a train that goes from Sault Ste Marie to Hearst and back. Chris flew home part way through the week and I spent the rest of the week driving around the lake. Parry Sound is on the east side of the lake.

I see freight trains all day. The passenger leaves in the morning and returns at night. We don't have any specialty or tour trains in the immediate area. There is a tour train that operates out of a small city that's just over an hour from here. They use historic diesel engines. Haven't been to see it, but I may take the rugrats this summer.

Same here. We have cargo trains that go right through the middle of town, but nothing nearby and nothing picturesque by any means. Not that the country side here is anything that a train going through would make a nice image either

I don't go out photographing trains around here because it is all the same all the time. There are some locations that are a bit different, like the international tunnel that goes under the St. Clair river, or a few small, old bridges.

The most interesting thing that's been happening in the last year is that we now see engines from several different camps. It's nice to see some colours other than CN's red and black.

I like FB; it's a cool way to see what's going on in my kids' and grandkids' lives without being intrusive. They like posting pics of whatever they're up to. We have a good time on it going back and forth.
