Tomorrow's forecast. Yuck!

Same here Back to ice storm tonight. Spring just does not want to come this year.

There are tons of great things to see on all sides of Canada. I've been out west, so I'd like to head east. I was in Three Hills for about a week back in 1997, and have been to Vancouver Island a couple of times. My grandparents worked at Prairie Bible Institute for 22 years, Mom was 9 when they moved there, then they went to Thetis Island, and then Vancouver Island. Ottawa is the furthest east I've been.

So much to see, so little time and money.

The first things I want to do upon retirement, are long multi-month trips to the Maritimes and Alaska, taking my time and exploring all points between. Maybe taking a canoe and doing some trips with it too. Then, a few trips through the US, trying to hit most corners.

Both sides of my family rears from just west of Three Hills, and a few cousins (or their kids) still farm there. Just last weekend I was up in Torrington at a family curling bonspiel. Torrington is about 20 minutes west of Three Hills. Olds, where I grew up (somewhat), is less than an hour west.

Yes, lots of great stuff to see. Hopefully I will get the time soon, and have enough money saved up.

Hey, RRTP friends. I'm trying to plan a vacation for late June, early July and I can't get reservations anywhere. Please let me know where you have gone that was awesome so I can figure out how 7 of us can spend 2 weeks of well earned vacation. I also want a place I can shoot a lot. And Alaska is out! I'm going there with my husband in late summer.

So much depends on what you like to do. Taking 2 weeks to drive up US1 stopping for a day or two in different places sounds awesome to me, as does 2 weeks hiking the Sierras, but not everyone likes to do that. 2 weeks in Florida can be fun. Lots of places to visit.

I'm with you on the hiking in the Sierra's. Great fun. I have a couple of hikes planned later this spring and summer.

This weather is a mess. It is currently 70 and bright sunshine....but they say we could have a significant ice storm later. Talk about a radical swing.

Gatlinburg, Asheville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park would give you tons of photo ops and there are plenty of sights and attractions to see beyond the park.

We had freezing rain all day yesterday, today is sunshine.

I love fur kids, but dealing with them passing is heart wrenching. Just said goodbye to my 20 year old kitty, who we've had for 13 years. Problem now is, the location where we have always buried our pets is frozen and under waist deep snow.

That's the kind of travelling I want to do. Slow, with no set schedule. I want to take a truck, load it up with camping gear, a road bike, a mountain bike, a kayak, and a canoe, and head out on road trips. The east coast is calling to me.

It's starting to snow after rain all night and ice rain. We are expecting 4-8 inches today and my son is flying in from Dallas to night. His original flight was canceled to land at noon. I hope he makes it. We are expecting 1-2 inches an hour until 6.

As far as the vacation goes, my sons wanted to go to the Italy. I should have made reservations last year for this June because everyone wants to be in Italy that week. But now we are low on funds, so I think we may end up in the western hemisphere. Not a problem. We just need to go somewhere to explore. We've been almost everywhere in the state. Just so many of us, 7. Can't rent just one car anywhere. But at least, we have 6 drivers.

I just bought a 7DII and got the SL1 last June. I am thinking I am just going to take one of those and my 5DII. Take the 17-40, 18-55 STM, 55-250 STM and a few primes in two small bags for walking around. I will have a few helpers to carry the stuff.

Love the moon shot earlier. The Falls look amazing. I wish I had time to go up there. We lived so close when we were in college. Maybe I'll have to plan a trip up there when we visit Cornell again.

Have a great day!

Dallas is pretty much shut down. We got about an inch of ice, then a little sleet, then about 4" of snow to top it off. We got a solid north wind so the planes should be taking off over me but I haven't heard a single one this morning. He might be late.

Don't know how the airport is, but looking at FlightAware, it looks like they got at least 1 runway open. Still haven't heard anything taking off through.

Suzy - if you're going to stay stateside (June-August are the busy vacation times in Europe, especially August, when whole countries shut down), I'll second Wool's suggestion of the WNC mountains.

It's not so much the snow, last week when we had snow things stayed open. It's the inch of solid ice under the snow. Cars and ice just don't mix.
