Not that long ago there was a news article floating around about the job posting for Postmaster at a British post office at some port in Antarctica. Was for November to March (summer), no internet, questionable electricity, no running water, no time off, and 4000 penguins in your yard. It was intriguing. The biggest drawback for me would be no internet, totally cuts off a lot of the world. Melody

Yeah, a few weeks at a time is alright, but months at a time is not. They have phone service at least, probably by satellite. In fact, Santa Barbara is probably the most dog-friendly place I've ever been. We like to visit Carlsbad, CA, once in while; more of a small town feel. We enjoy Carmel, Monterey, Laguna.
