I ran for the first time in a month. Normally I run 2-3 miles but today I wasn't really paying attention and ended up running 8.2 miles, I only stopped there because I ended up throwing up. I don't know if it helped my mental state but I should sleep well tonight. :-)

Was that 4.1 miles out and 4.1 back, or are you now 8.2 miles from home? :-D

My wife and I got ourselves in a bit of trouble with an out and back bike hike. Our plan was to follow the Illinois river for 10 miles and then turn around. When we got 10 miles out we were still feeling really great and decided to push out a little farther. At 16 miles we decided it was time to turn around. The trip out was a breeze, the trip back was horrible. Turns out that for the trip out we had been going downhill the whole way and we had a strong wind at out backs. The trip back was all uphill with a strong headwind.

I have a treadmill at home.

I love my treadmill but have trouble running on it without keeping one hand on a rail. For some reason my body does not do well if it thinks it is running but not actually moving. It gets sort of disorientated. As long as I have a hand on one of the rails I am fine though. These days though I prefer a run in the woods. We have very nice trails all over the place. Lots of wildlife.

I use it on cold or rainy days, or if it's too hot to stay alive out there, but I prefer the outdoors.

^ that.

we have a lake by us, it is ironically 5k in perimeter, and on "normal" days, there are hundreds of people running, jogging and walking etc. I can't wait to do that. But right now there are still a few feet of snow that has to melt away...

it is happening, but slowwwwwwwwwwwly.... :D

I'd like to have an elliptical parked in front of the TV. I could do that.

I tried an elliptical (bought one for my wife) but as I am tall and I have a long stride, I found it very uncomfortable and it killed my knees. I could not adjust the think for my stride so every step would come to an end before my body though it should and it was doing something funny to my knees. I went back to the treadmill and we sold the elliptical.

I get very motion sick running on a treadmill, just 10 minutes will have me ready to throw up. The fact that the machines were in a room with a fairly low ceiling, with tvs hanging in odd places may have had a lot to do with it. A wide open view would probably help.
I liked the elliptical at first, but I found my lower back didn't like it. The horizontal length of the stride seemed fine, but the vertical was too high, had to lift my feet higher than what was comfortable.

I've never tried an elliptical machine. Based on what has been said here I probably wouldn't like it much, I am over 6 foot tall and a fairly long stride.
