I'm not a fan of camping in the rain. You get wet, cold, damp, chilled and no matter what you do, you stay cold, damp, chilled. Sucks.

I don't like camping in the rain, even if it's the middle of summer, everything just gets wet and is uncomfortable. I do, however, like sleeping in a tent when it's raining - as long as the tent is waterproof.

If you didn't go camping because of the weather, you would never go camping.

This weekend we will have our trailer, and head out to our rec land, where we also have a cookhouse we can go in. It is well insulated, and has a big old kitchen wood stove for heat.

Lots of times we are where we have no shelter, other than what we bring with us. We still make due.

If it is raining, we set up a couple huge tarps over the fire pit, and stay warm and dry that way. We can also hang out under the trailer awning, but that gets boring. We also take good rain gear, so you can be out and about in the rain.

Besides, it is rare for it to rain steady. We almost always get a chance to dry things out.

One 8 day canoe trip I went on with my wife a couple years back, it rained every day except the first day. We kept all our gear, but the tent, tarp, dry bags and rain gear all dry, and still had a wonderful trip. Here is a typical tent setup for rain.

Oh man, you weren't even born when I was watching these, Harm. I was a young teen. They were funny. I wonder if I would find them as funny now. Would like to check them out again, for sure.

did you cut the tree down just for your tent and tarp?

I am sure I wasn't born when you were watching them as a teen, but they always showed them on television when i was growing up back home. Since i liked a good, quality comedy, they were great.

Nope, I think the BC Parks guys did, as it was fresh cut, but dead.

I remember watching Monty Python and laughing so hard. Watching them recently, they are not nearly as funny. And then the shows like Saturday night live I watch today and think they are not funny but watching the first 5 seasons, genius.

Same here. The first two generations of SNL cast members were awesome. I enjoyed Monty Python as well back in the day.

I dunno, I still love watching Monty Python. Rarely have I ever watched any kind of movie or show more than a couple times, but I have seen most of this stuff countless times. I still remember the first time I watched the Holy Grail, my buddy was literally rolling on the floor laughing his ass off, and crying he was laughing so hard. I thought it was great, but he musta got something special out of it.

Had to go in and get my taxes done today. Last year we actually got back $23.

So anyway, I called my wife at work a couple hours later and said, "Guess how much we owe this year."

Her: "Mmm... $500?"
Me: "Add a zero and some more."
Her: "WHAT? How much?"
Me: "6,543." (Which I had to repeat more than once)
Her: "WHY SO MUCH?"
Me: "I dunno, that's just what it came up to. Invest income I guess."
Her: "But why so much more than LAST year?"

Me: "Maybe because we didn't pay it on APRIL FOOLS DAY last year! Haha."

She said I wasn't a bit funny
