Barefoot!

I love my work boots, but I'm not one of those people who wear them everywhere. Down from there I wear running shoes or hikers. Then Toms slip-ons, crocs, and flip flops.

I am very particular when it comes to my feet. Not just any sock will do, not just any shoe will do. Asics only for running shoes. They fit perfectly, have the support I need, and don't make my feet sweat. Merrell and Sketchers are usually pretty good as well. I have a pair of insulated winter shoes by Merrell and they're great for when you need something warmer than running shoes, but don't want to wear boots. Hikers are Merrell as well.
I never thought that I would like Toms, until I tried them on. The men's size 8 is exactly the perfect size and shape for my feet. No room for socks though, so I have to wash them or they get nasty stinky.
Crocs, as ugly as they are, have great uses.

That's what I should do. The last track day down at Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon & Sears Point) I wore down the toe of one of my riding boots when I accidentally tuoch it to the pavement while leaned over in turn 6.

I alternate between my Burkies and my Merrells. Both just have straps over the top of the foot. I dislike the flip flops that have something going down to the sole next to the big toe.

The only time I wear the boots is when I go out in public. The rest of the time I run around barefoot, even when I go outside at home.

Up early this morning for the lunar eclipse. Got a couple of so-so shots. The moon was fairly low in the sky to the west. I had to shoot over a nearby ridge.
The thermals and haze rising from the Santa Rosa plain beyond that ridge were disturbing the air. Interesting to watch in live view at 10x magnification, but it doesn't do much for sharpness. :-|

Normally I would have gone to the coast and shot it in the calm clear air over the Pacific Ocean.

Same here. I was shooting from the east side of Vegas, so I got lots of light pollution :-(

Regardless, it was interesting to see it set over vineyard rows on the ridge while it was still partially eclipsed.

So did I. At 0330, I was up vacuuming dog pee out of the carpet. He woke me up to go outside after he'd gone on the floor... Brilliant.

We have a very old dog. Turned 19 Jan 24th. and he has to go out at least twice a night. Sometimes he doesn't quite make it and we have to change the blankets in his crate. Poor guy.

We were totally covered by clouds this morning. Watched the eclipse on YouTube from the Griffith Park Observatory.

19? wow, that's very old for a dog. It's sad when they get that way. My folks just lost their elderly dog this February. She was 14 and having horrible seizures. It was tough to see her go.

This morning I probably should have left the camera in the house and just enjoyed the view.

The last 10 seconds of this time lapse video is worth watching. https://www.flickr.com/photos/maktrak/16843987130/ (external link)

We recently lost our 20 year old kitty. Up until the last week she was doing great, other than losing weight and being cold. When she started having problems walking she stopped using the litter box and went in the bathtub.
Funny thing about her was that if she ever couldn't get to the litter box she would just go in the tub. Don't know if she was taught that at some point or if she just did it, but it was nice.

Our Scouty has been having seizures as well. We've had him on pheno-barb and that's done a great job controlling them but every other month or so they come back. Today was that day. Scout had three seizures today. talked to the vet and she had us up his dosage. Poor guy. They are brutal. Thing is that the time between is normal and he does just fine but I know one of these days we will have to pull the trigger.

I cried like a baby when we lost our Golden, Shelly. And we seem to much closer to our current furkid, Harley. He's still young, but I already dread the day we lose him.

Change of subject. Here's one shot of the eclipse. I think the previous one was better, but maybe it was just the position in sky this time.
