I finally finished off the last of the maple goodies tonight. I made a bunch of hard maple candy and sugar. This years syrup total is about 19 quarts, with lots of candy and sugar made as well.

quick question greg_c, are there any good aussie online shops that deal with cameras?

Try camerasdirect, digital camera warehouse or discount digital photographics.

Of these camerasdirect is probably the best, I've handed them lots of $.

Today will be the first time I've used my 70-200 lens in probably over a year. My son's first track meet this afternoon.

Last year I rarely used my 70-200, but the years before it was my 2nd most used lens after the 24-70. Just depends on what you're shooting I guess.

Which track & field events does your son do?

My 70-200 f2.8 is a fantastic lens, and shines at close up action stuff. BUT, I bet it hasn't been used in well over a year now, with the 24-105 getting the lion's share of the work. I actually use the 100-400 more, as it comes out when I need the length. This is why I still plan to dump the 70-200, and the old 100-400, and just get the new 100-400. Something I better get on soon though. Our Alaska trip starts 2 months from today, and I have a horde of things going on in between, including my daughters wedding in just over 2 weeks.

I considered selling my 24-105 but when I see how low used prices are now, it makes more sense to keep it.

Things seem to go in spurts. The 70-200 is on the camera now...but the 24-70 is there nearly as much or perhaps even a bit more. Definitely my two most used lenses.

I'm on the verge of letting go my old 20D and a couple of non-L lenses. It's been sitting unused for several years.

One of the members of my radio club wants a DSLR, but being a young college student working at a fast food place who just bought a car, she can't afford much. I'm thinking of loaning her the camera, lenses and anything else she needs to get started for the time being.

I've been bouncing back and forth between my 14mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4 lenses. The 24-70 and the 24-105 haven't been touched in a couple of months now.

If I was starting with new gear all over again, this is the first lens I would buy. For me, the range is perfect for what I mostly shoot, and rarely do I have need for f2.8, so the price and weight savings is nice too.
