Woolburr, Roger abruptly stopped posting. He was in his seventies and not in the best of health. No one has heard anything.

Hey, things have gone from crazy to silly. As late as March 1st the late was at 514 feet above SL and full pool is 522 so about 8 feet low. We are now at 536 of 14 feet above full pool. The boat launches are gone. May parking lots are gone, even some of the bridges are impassable. I'll post some new pictures shortly. This was from 2 weeks ago when we were only 10 feet above full pool.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Mine is a Variable Ground Snake. Their diet includes crickets, spiders, roaches, and scorpions. I wish I had a bunch of 'em to put in my yard ;)

Yours are nice, too, JJ. I'll take any snakes in the yard as long as they're not the venomous kind. Even the wife doesn't mind them.

We have Garter snakes and Rattlesnakes. I wouldn't mind having a few more snakes around the place if they would eat the voles and moles.

My niece is turning 7 years old this Wednesday. About a year ago she met two young ball pythons at a friends house and instantly fell in love with them. For a year she has been talking about the snakes and asking for her own pet snake. A couple of weeks ago she got her birthday present early. The two snakes needed a new home, and they have one now in Lizzy's room. Honey is 1 1/2 years old and Selah is 2 1/2. They are very calm and well handled. And now they have daily attention and lots of new friends. Even the dog is good with them, just licks them now and then. Lizzy is one super happy little girl!

That's a familiar looking sight! We have areas that flood on a regular basis. Bear Creek will go 12 feet over it's normal height at least once a year. Bear Creek goes right through the middle of Petrolia. In the centre there is Little Lake, which is just a wide area of the creek with a small dam at one end. The park there is a part of the Petrolia Discovery, but everyone calls it The Flats. It will completely flood with good rains, and not just some water laying around, it will be 6 feet deep over the whole area, which includes a baseball diamond, soccer fields, and lots of open space. The golf course, which is just downstream, will be completely under water with just the flags visible.
Canoeing in the golf course becomes the local entertainment :)
