I'm back..
Too a direct lightning strike last week. Really fried the house. Lost:
1. Garage door opener sensors
2. HVAC #3 controller board
3. HVAC #2 blower capacitor (picture coming)
4. Cable modem
5. Both routers (main network and TV)
6. Master bed reading light controllers
7. 5 out of 8 smoke alarms (wired through security system)
8. popped all GFIs (still trying to find outside grill area outlet gfi)
9. Front door light timer.
10 Auto sprinkler controller.

And I'm sure I will find another thing or two. Not sure where it hit but neighbor across the street told us he saw the bolt, a big one and the boom a millisecond later. Might have hit the chimney as I cannot find a burn mark. He watched it for a while to make sure it didn't catch fire but 8" of rain in 90 minutes does wonders at making sure something doesn't catch fire.

That sounds like one hell of a storm. I assume nobody got hurt, that's the main thing. I gotta imagine there is terrible flooding with that much rain, and that quickly.

Geez, JJ. That sucks; looks like a lot of work for you.

Latest flood pics. The stop sign out in middle of the lake is normally about 100 yards/meters from the shoreline.

Yikes! We had a lightning strike years ago but the only big thing that got fried was the stereo, at least as far as I remember. Have had a lot of very close strikes over the years. It's always entertaining when a tree gets struck and the bark all explodes.

Finding a burn mark can be difficult. When a vehicle gets struck the actual mark is really small, but the damage is extensive. Even systems that seem ok afterwards will eventually fail, and always has weird symptoms. Vehicles are pretty much a write off.

My Wife and son did a color run this weekend. I took the 5dc that I just picked up into the powder. So far so good as far as getting anything sucked in.

My wife was trying to rub powder on my daughter, she wasn't very happy about it. She was even wearing safety glasses.
