Well at this level there is no HR department, each manager does their own hiring.

I heard back and I'm still in the running, so I still have a chance.

Fingers crossed. Do you get the signing bonus? :)

It would be nice! I have no idea what kind of value it is, but if it covers the cost of getting my toolbox moved it would be great.

If their signing bonus was anything like mine, and many others in this area, you may not get it for a while. When I offered a signing bonus the employee would get it one year from hiring if they were still with us.

Hmm... I imagine it's probably that way. I know they've had some high turnover at different times, and had one guy not even show up for his first day. It's not even a factor in me wanting to go there. I need a full time job and I really want to get back into the trade. I know all but one of the guys in the shop. The shop foreman is a grouch, but I know to just stay out of his way.

A big plus is that the shop is brand new, just finished it last fall. 8 bays, one being a new alignment bay. Bright, spacious, clean, air conditioned, functional, etc. There are currently 2 licensed techs, and 2 apprentices.

They've also just gotten the Scion brand.

Sound like it could be a great place to work. I may have found myself employee for a local pvc pipe production company. One of the supervisors is a good friend and they've been expanding and need someone to setup and maintain the PLCs and computer networks.

And smoky. Maybe that's why they are called the smoky mountains. :)

Well the race is only 4 hours late getting started. I'm not working tomorrow, so I can stay up an watch it. Not that I'd be sleeping anyway. Spent most of the day working on the beach yesterday installing a set of stairs. Way too much sun and I've been on the edge of being sick ever since.

I like maple syrup but chugging it sounds gross.

I think it was NASCAR, or at least I heard on the news this morning that it was late starting and there was some big crash.
