I just had pizza. Wonder what the wife's got for dessert. Chocolate, I hope.

Let's see.... I didn't eat breakfast. I had a gyro at the fair for lunch. Supper was a can of Chef Boyardee and half a bag of kettle corn.

After closing my business with the intent to move on to different ventures I find myself back in another shop. Maybe someday I'll figure out what I want to do.

I'm almost hopeful I'll figure out what I want to do if I grow up...

At least you found a cure for your ... err... inversion thingy...

Some people never figure out what they want to do. Or else they just change their mind all the time.

I have always had a (continually changing) list of jobs that I'd like to try for awhile. Initially it was a list of summer jobs that I'd like to try between school. One of them was mowing lawns. I have gotten to do that job, off and on for the last 6 years, and I love it. Another job I had considered was working on a paving crew, but that's off the list, way too hot! I'd still like to do valet service and some really swanky place. Just for the chance to drive the cars, meet some famous people, and hopefully get some great tips.

I really do love the automotive industry. Now I have a chance to do the management thing again, but in a place that is accepting of women, is well managed, has awesome owners, and has employees that don't act like spoiled children. I will also be a fill-in mechanic. I don't know how I'll like the position, or how long I'll be at it, but it seems like the right direction right now. I didn't apply for the job, I was asked to do the job.

Ha ha! That's kind of my problem. Well, actually I've always known what I've wanted to do.....problem is, the things I've wanted to do just happen to be things that nobody gets paid for. They're usually done as hobbies, where people actually pay to do them, not the other way around. The things that are usually jobs....well, they just don't seem as enjoyable as the hobby-type things.

That's important. Almost every job I have had has come about this way. It usually goes far better when you know the employers/owners and have a personal history with them. They tend to respect you more and care more about how they treat you, probably because their reputation is on the line (if you have a bunch of mutual friends).

My problem exactly. There is so much I want to do but unfortunately it takes $$ to be able to do them and very few get paid doing the things I like to do. :( I have always said that I would make a fantastic rich person. I wouldn't be one of those sitting around all depressed and bored. I would be out doing stuff having a great time.

I would be a very busy rich person. I'd fill my passport with stamps and visas and find all the best things to do and experience in each country I visit. I would take people with me too. That person who has never met their grandparents because they live on the far side of the world? They'd have a seat on my private jet.
I'd pull a Richie Rich and have a roller coaster in the back yard.

Private jets require serious money. A G6 runs about $65 million, plus annual operating costs around $2-$3million or more depending on how much you flew. It's a nice fantasy though! :-D

I suspect I'd spend a lot more time and money on charitable causes. I really admire what Bill and Melinda Gates have done with their foundation.

I wouldn't want a jet. Too impractical. I would much prefer the Beech Kingair and pilot it myself. :):)

It'd be a chopper for me! Much easier to put down in all of those extremely remote little places where the wildlife is!

Yeah, the jet is for when I get really, really rich.

In reality, I'd be doing a ton of work with charities. It's something that I always want to be able to do more for/with.
Actually, with finally getting a decent paying, full time job that should allow me to have weekends and vacations, I'm already thinking on some things to support or join in on.

This business that I will be working for is a family owned business. It's named H&I Service. H for Henry, I for Ingrid, the original owners. They also own Joe's Tires, but it's run as a separate business. Their son Steve is/has taken ownership as Henry is now 70 years old and needs to not be working every day.
I met Steve while playing paintball. My church is in a sister-ship with two other churches in the city. Steve is a youth leader at one of the other churches. Most of my friends attend that church, so I do a lot with them as well as with my own church.
So, we know each other from outside the working world, and are both involved in the same kind of stuff. This should allow me the opportunity to do some more mission trips. Previous employers have thrown up roadblocks to that kind of trip, like not being allowed to take two weeks off in a row, or being very low on the totem pole for choosing vacation time.
