ya know, you can print a note. I don't have a problem with cursive going away. All too often it is incomprehensible and messy.

But, from an aesthetic standpoint, I don't think that really, really good printing can ever be as beautiful and refined as really, really beautiful cursive. If one wants to create truly beautiful script by hand with a pen, it really is hard to beat the cursive style.

I've been hunting for vintage ledger pages of late, with intention of providing them to a Native American ledger artist. This hunt has lead me to realize just how important excellent handwriting can be. The pieces I find with really beautiful handwriting (cursive) all command quite a premium compared to those with average handwriting.

I bet that 100 years ago, when these store clerks wrote receipts and invoices for common household items and groceries, they never imagined that a century later dozens of people from all around the world would be on computers examining and scrutinizing the handwriting that they used. It really does matter.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I'll admit, my cursive is terrible, in fact my penmanship as a whole is terrible! The worst is when I have to deal doctors and other institutions and fill out form, including multiple signatures, I hate it!

I guess my only comeback is the English language, via literature courses in high school and college, and in the course of things developing the ability to communicate, which carried out both in my "creative writing" efforts but especially in my career in the tech industry, where you had to communicate with people in "straight English"! The whole field of "texting" has left me feeling pretty sour!

Sending out Christmas cards sucks for me.

I'm impressed, you have friends to send Christmas cards to?

Who said anything about friends? I have acquaintances to send cards to, and family, too.... that's kinda required.

I don't care what kind of technological advances there are, the best way to listen to a baseball game is on AM radio. Especially when it's the hometown team winning. :D

Ok. But I thought that as of yesterday his "location" simply said "Eastern Oregon", with no mention of Tupperware or North Carolina. So I was thinking that he changed his location information since yesterday when I posted my response to his post. Is this the case?

My information has said the same thing for the past 6 years or so....:-P

Yes, I understand that now. Others here made that known. Please see the following discussion, quoted from earlier posts:

I'm pretty sure it's said that same thing for years now, or at least some variant of that.

Jon wrote in post #17750910 (external link)
Nope, he's had the "Leicester, NC" part as long as he's had the "Eastern Oregon".

Tom Reichner wrote in post #17750936 (external link)
Well, that explains it, then. I need to pay much more careful attention to everything I read.

Just to keep the thread alive, so Tom doesn't feel bad about killing it...

For my birthday, my wife gave me a choice... 16-35f/4L, or a once-a-month landscape service. Decisions, decisions.

I really don't enjoy yard work, but a new toy is hard to beat.

Moose, just tell her you'll take the 16-35L now, and the landscape service as her Christmas present to you!

Problem solved! :p :-D

Is "a once-a-month landscape service" code for something you elderly folks get/give on an occasional basis?

It's only a code for dirty old men who've recently been booted out of the Ladies Lounge. :p :-D
