Nothing awesome about the evil white powder. I was dreaming of a green Christmas,, but alas I get to shovel.

Yea, I have had my fill of snow as well. The cold that hit you northerners came down here as well. A freezing 48 degrees right now and really windy. At least is sunny though.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

It was in the low 80's here yesterday. On Thanksgiving we're supposed be down to 48 for a high. But I'll be in Tucson at my daughter's place.

Our high today is suppose to be 41F, I'm not sure we'll make it, it's only 34F right now. With freezing fog.

Well this has been a really exciting topic

Nobody's having any interesting trysts, or buying new toys, having cool operations, and so on?

Drink some hot Glühwein and dream of sugar plum fairies, and what you might do with them.

The important thing is to maintain a sense of humor about it. I think you have that one down!

I've been a bit busy. It's currently -8C, 77% humidity, and clear. Yesterday's snow is not melting tonight!

Yesterday my friend Jeff and I drove up to Stoney Creek to look at a Subaru Forester. 2 1/2 hour drive each way. He's been wanting to get a winter vehicle. The Mustang convertible just isn't the best vehicle for driving in snow, hauling ski equipment, or other people. The vehicle that they had there turned out to be a very nice looking one. Very clean and well maintained. I only spotted a minor issue or two. The sales guy, who was the owner of the car lot, was surprisingly pleasant to deal with. I've been in the business long enough to know instantly if they're feeding you a line. The vehicle was good, the price was right - talked him down a bit, and the guy was reasonable. So Jeff is buying it. We'll probably go get it this coming weekend.

When I go car shopping, or anything similar, I like to pretend that I'm just another girl looking at vehicles. I want to see how the salesperson is going to treat me when they don't know that I know what I'm talking about/looking at. See if they try to talk me out of something, into something else, pressure me, lie, etc. So initially, when the sales person is around, I won't look too closely at the vehicle. Or at least I try not to. I'll be looking at everything while pretending to just look at all the storage pockets, or in the glove box, or at the stereo, check out the seats, play with the buttons, etc. Meanwhile I'll be checking for rust, paint damage, wet floors, lack of maintenance, etc. After I've gauged the salespersons tactics, I'll pull out the flashlight and really start looking.
The guy that was there was good. He pegged me as being in the trade very early on. Said he didn't know exactly why, but he knew I was different. After we road tested it, I really started checking things out, and pointing them out to Jeff. Pulled the dipsticks, checked the head gaskets, looked closely at the brakes, etc. When I questioned him about the quality of the "safety" inspection that he does, he asked me flat out about being in the industry. That led to some good conversation. He doesn't sell anything that "just barely passes", he wants customers to be happy. So, we shall see how honest he is when we pick up the vehicle. I know that the back brakes are going to be close, and I told him that. I'd expect to see them replaced, or provide measurements.

We stopped at Wacky Wings in Brantford on the way home. I LOVE their wings. Jeff wasn't sure until his first bite and then he was sure that they are the best wings ever. Buffalo Wild Wings doesn't even compare.

After leaving the cities behind, we ran into winter. Heavy, heavy snowfall of very wet snow. The highway had well over an inch of accumulation, and visibility was bad. It was a slow drive home trying to stay between the rumble strips when the only thing you can see is the vehicles in front of you, and they're not going in a straight line. Fortunately, Jeff had put the snow tires on the day before. But a Mustang certainly has its limits when trying to get through the heavy stuff.

Hi everyone! I've been here before, but that was a long time ago! But.... I'm back!!

All of your northerners already have snow?!?! Damn. It's FREEZING here in TN. We hit 20º last night, but later this week it's supposed to be back up into the 60ºs.

Jill, I had a Forester for a long time. Great vehicle, but you're head is in the right place with doing a thorough check. Subarus are not forgiving on lack of maintenance at all.
