It really is amazing at how much things have shrunk.

The high school I went to was the first one around to get a computer. It was put in a room on the second floor. They had to reinforce the floor supports to hold the weight and they put in extra wide double doors. It was one that used punch cards, which they had so much of that they used them for attendance cards. 1500+ students in the school and everyone got a new one every year. As far as I know, they are still using those cards.

Probably an old IBM360 or maybe a 370. The 370 was the first machine I started programming on. :)

Sounds like an old 360 model 30 which IBM marketed to the education sector. I used to operate one of those, but before that I was on the 1401. I remember doing a mailing list punch card sort of 60,000 customers. Each customer consisted of 4 data cards. Much late night joy and happiness. :p

Not liking Windows 10 here. Why did they have to make everything look so cheap?

What do you mean? It's pretty much Win8 with a built in start button.

I've never used Win8, I have Win7 on my old laptop and I love it. Everything just looks bare bones and plain.

I think one of the highest priorities in setting this machine up is to get the colour settings corrected. This has quite the blue cast on everything. Definitely want to get a calibrator to go along with this so I can actually use the photo printer without numerous trial and error print outs.

Same thing here. I've tried to adjust the colors in the computer and monitor settings, but since my labs prints still come out a bit yellowish and slightly dark, I know my display is still too blue and bright. I try to make allowances for that when I work in Lightroom, but I still have to reprint now and then.

As far as Windows 10... Microsoft keeps trying to get me to upgrade from 8, but I'm scared that things will get messed up with programs, or internet connections, printer, etc. I hate dealing with stuff like that anymore.

Well, Thanksgiving's over. Shortly I'll be making the 7 1/2 hour drive back to Vegas from daughter's house in Tucson, and back to work and reality

Time to get a color calibrator and load your printers color profile. I print at Costco and have my local stores color profile loaded so I am able to proof before submitting. Colors come out spot on.

Went down to the lake for a walk between rainstorms. We have had 7.62 inches since Thursday late afternoon and it looks as if we are only 1/2 done. The lake has come up 4" since Thursday morning already and the creeks are rivers right now..
