Here's the silver lining: this photo proves that you were shooting in Manual. Think of the humiliation if it was in green-box. :p

The hilarity is the IS and USM aspects still work 100% fine... i could stick it back together but the zoom ring bent sadly...

the flash however is in a bunch of pieces.. i gotta figure out how to safely move it since theres exposed contacts and etc...

Gorgeous work, John. I can't fathom what goes into that kind of craftsmanship.

Thanks! The hardest part about the bowls is getting the shape correct. Once it's removed, putting the wood back on the piece is a bit . . . tricky

I've come down with a cold, which sucks because today begins my weekend, so I thought this might be good: Korean Shin Ramyun noodles, cut-up vegies, leftover steak, and mini wontons from Costco. I hadn't noticed that the package said, "spicy." Anyway, It was just what the moose doctor ordered. :-)

Get well soon!

This is why i have insurance thankfully.. For my klutzy self :(

Spine and arm are killing me, but ill live.

Oh my! I don't think that one will just buff out.

Went to the eye doc today and have a new set of glasses on order. It doesn't help I'm fighting something off and have a nasty cough. My eyes do feel a bit sore, not sure if that's from the tests, the eye drops for dilation, or what. I'm not a big fan of that one piece of equipment that blows the puff of air on your eye.

That thing sucks.. Not the worst though, the alternative is a thing they shove against your eyeball that kind of like an ear thermometer

So what the heck happened?

Was outside trying to use the fact its dark to get a stark black background behind a lily using my 580EXII and my 70-200.. My hands started to give out and i headed for the house, I stumbled getting into the house and the 7D went flying and tumbled across the concrete floor, i landed on my right side and yeah. I have issues with my spine and numbness/weakness in my legs and arms and stuff to begin with and the cold didnt help that :(

7D is perfectly fine, a few scrapes but the lens and flash took the brunt of the damage as far as i can tell. That thing is tough as a brick.. i think i chipped the concrete

as i said, thankful i have insurance right now.. last time i needed it was 7 years ago.. Funny enough similar problem happened, was coming in and my 30D and 28-75 took a tumble... the 28-75 was less intact than the 70-200

Canon builds their stuff to take a hit ill say that.

Didn't you have the camera on your strap? That might have kept it from bouncing across the floor.

That sucks loosing strength in your extremities. Some of this stuff is kind of heavy especially if you are dealing with a situation like you are.

Be careful.

I was in China...

Today on the radio the were talking about deadly viruses. Every time they mentioned the chikungunya virus, I had an overwhelming urge for Chinese food.

I heard it as chicken gunya like "would you like a side of rice with your chicken gunya?"

I think I had that while we were in China...

Now that looks exactly like what I imagine chicken gunya to look like. :):)

My 74 year old dad was accosted by Chicago police today at the Chicago auto show. Some lady said my dad took her picture. They took us in back and questioned us, as not to embarrass us. I asked what we were being held for. He said the woman felt uncomfortable that my dad may have taken a picture of her chest. I said we are in public, so what was the problem. He asked for my dad's license and I said for what? We now had 3 cops around us and I was irritated. I said we can take pictures in public, it's not like we were at a beach. The officer didn't like my attitude and asked for my name, I asked what for, I wasn't the one fingered. He eventually said he isn't going to hold us, so I said then we can leave. He said yes, I turned and we returned to the show.
