Lovely shots. I see you found the Title Fairy!

Sure, I don't mind historical photographs being in color when they were taken in color. I'm talking about B&W photographs being colored after the fact, with paint or colored pencils.

True. Sorry slight headache at the moment is impairing my thinking atm

Carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to problems breathing all the time. Open a window and stick your head outside now! Shut off all gas appliances and run for help.

I know it's cold but that will help fill your lungs with clean (kinda) N.Y. air. Headaches are a sure sign of CO. I've taken the liberty of specking out a good CO detector with alerts.

I don't mind old photos being colorized when done well. THe reason most photos were in black and white is because the photographer didn't have access to color or were too cheap to use the highly complex (at that time) color process. Heck, when I first started way back in the stone age, I shot exclusivity in B&W because I was broke and shooting color was expensive.

As kids, we got stung by something pretty much every day that stinging critters were out. It was nothing to us. All summer long there would be a small pile of baking soda on the counter. Just wet your fingers, make some paste, and cover the sting.

You are the first person I've known that also used the baking soda trick. This was my mother's treatment as well and I've used for it stings and rashes as well. When I had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin I took a baking soda bath to cool down the rash/itch.

It would be interesting to see a poll on the colorization of historical photographs. I, for one, prefer them left as they were taken. It would also be interesting to see the thoughts of photographers on this, compared to the general public. I wonder if the results would differ much.

I like the original way of colorizing old B&W photos. Digital coloring, not so much. It's a nostalgia thing I guess.

Hello everyone, I don't know why I can't find the time to get on here more often and visit. The first unread post Chet was talking about -9 degrees, Feb 10, that was the morning we left for our Silver anniversary trip to sunny FL. We drove and kept watching the temperatures rise on the truck's thermometer.

Bucky, Hi! Sounds like me and FaceBook.

We always rely on meat tenderizer (Adolph's); let those enzymes neutralize the toxins. Then there was the yellow soap lather for Poison Ivy.

I use meat tenderizer on mosquito bites, I think I did on a spider bite a few years back as well.

Meat tenderizer... hmm... never heard of that one before. But it makes sense.

To add to my weirdness, I am immune to poison ivy. I have walked barefoot through it and never had a single itch. Now, I do avoid it on principle, and if I do touch it, I wash with soap and water. It doesn't bother me, but I don't need to spread it around.

Grrrrr moment right now. Windows decided that it absolutely had to update itself. Whatever it did, it forgot all the monitor calibration settings. Everything is back to a weird blue/purple shade and it hurts the eyes. And I have to wait half an hour for the monitor to warm up. :(

I was the same. When we were clearing a wooded lot to build a house, it was covered with poison ivy. Everyone had to be so careful and still would get it but not me. But then, it seemed that my immunity disappeared overnight and now I am very sensitive to it. I have found that this (external link) works great on poison ivy, fire ants, bee/wasp stings and the like. It has the same active ingredient as this (external link) stuff at a fraction of the cost.

Wow, those wax figures are very well done. Very lifelike. (I'm assuming they are wax figures. :)

I love Mean Green, it's just not widely available here. I never see it in stores.

The sudden sensitivity to it is what I'm concerned about, especially since that's what's happened to me with bee stings. So I always make sure to avoid it or wash it off immediately.

Yea, Mean Green works great on ant bites and such but not as good as goop for degreasing your hands.
