Just spent four full days with my three sisters (and two brothers-in-law) going through my Dad's house, dividing up his belongings. People's true colors come out in a situation like that. The things I took all fit on my dining room table. Two sisters packed the back of their pick-up trucks. One sister loaded her vehicle and two U-Haul trailers (one of which was a two-axle).

Also made four trips to Goodwill with a pick-up, and we still have half a garage full of garbage.

Yes they do. When my grandmother passed everyone came swooping down like vultures. She had a steam trunk full of photos and negatives, and all I asked was to get them so I could scan them for sharing and archiving. Then whoever wanted them could have them. To this day whoever took them has kept them hidden, no one even knows which vulture took them. Still makes me angry.

You're not alone. We're going through the same kind of sad stuff with my wife's siblings.

Such a true saying that you can pick your friends, but not your family. People never fail to astound with their behaviour at times. Main thing is that you can be content that you have behaved in a manner that causes you no guilt or embarrassment, as for your sisters, that's for them to live with.

Two of them were above board. The other one... that filled two trailers... has no shame. That's okay, I also threw several big bags of trash in there that she didn't know about until she got home.

My Grandmother wrote in her will who got what. She had downsized into a one bedroom apartment in a retirement community so there wasn't all that much, but there were fights still. Someone else wanted the dining room set, but it was ours. Dad is the oldest, and my grandparents did everything by birth order.

Half of the pictures and such went to the youngest, were never archived, and then they had a house fire. :(

Howdy and welcome. The place is friendly, but weird.

I still have a few small ones around. I recently found an old 16mb chip with some old pics on them.
