We've got that humidity thing going on up here.

No A/C in the shop, have to wear work clothes and boots, still playing baseball, and been doing other work on the weekends. I've spent days on end totally drenched in sweat and can't cool down. Takes a toll on a person.

Find a hose. There's always hoses laying around. That way you at least drop a few degrees and feel better.
I have a/c at home, in the car and in my office. I wonder sometimes if I didn't, if the heat wouldn't feel so bad.
Acclimate!

Just a short term observation as one who has been following this thread for maybe 2 months, but... there sure is a lot of complaining on this thread... physical ailments... this happened to me today... whoa is me... blah blah blah...

But, after reviewing the past few months and if you see a different take - please speak up! Seems like a "misery-loves-company love-in" thing happening here... every week...

Anyone - feel free at any time to post positive things here!

Me? I worked an hour between 7-8am... then our city's power went out because a guy earlier climbed a hydro-power structure at 6am this morning, suicidal, and the county's power was shut off so he would not electrocute himself... he was <ahem> eventually escorted down and we had power at 11:30am... so a nice leisurely Friday morning work-day...

what nice things happened to you folks this week? :p

This week I was awarded a 5 digit grant, since we are non-profit, to be used for an increase in elderly transportation. I receive federal dollars, however it is up to me to find local match money, which I successfully did. I shaved my cat as he was full of mat's and I think they were getting tight enough to maybe be painful. I wasn't sure if he would put up with it, but he actually laid there and purred. He's now a short haired domestic for the next couple of months, and mat free! He will be cooler for the summer months, too, and his coat will grow back for winter. It was a good week.

Our auditors sent me a draft set of accounts. Might not seem much to you guys, but for me it signals the end of an annual tortuous exercise. This year is even better than normal as it also signals a change in lifestyle for me as completion of the audit was my final task before changing my role to one less stressul, working less hours (earning a smaller salary), but giving me more time for good stuff, photography, the beach, doing those jobs around the house that need doing, etc., etc. Life should get better! :-)

Hmmmm, damned inconsiderate! If they'd let him achieve his goal and sizzle, your power outage would probably have been much shorter.

Seems a great decision... I now have a unique job in manufacturing that is less stress but less money - and my nervous system is thanking me daily. After 28 yrs of retail management, The change is welcome. I put very high value on a more simple lifestyle now and it sure is worth it.
And, overtime starts at 40 hrs (not the typical 44) and it is easy work for more money, when so inclined...

Tons of county-wide lost productivity in those 4.5 hrs (yet staff were still paid) so that was expensive.
But it did show the value placed on one individual's life, which was interesting and good to see...

I'm thinking it wasn't the life they were saving that drove their actions but avoiding the huge lawsuit which would have come after had they been successful.

Well, for good news, I'm still alive and haven't puked since yesterday afternoon. Spent 14 hours in bed, sleeping for most of it.

Glad you're feeling better! Still alive is always a good thing. Absence of puking is an added bonus. Heat related or the good old flu?

The whole county would smell like chicken, though.

I hope that didn't sound insensitive
