A variety of what was flown this year. The event is a major fund raiser for Vintage Wings Of Canada, which is a non profit museum dedicated to the restoration / preservation / & the flying of military aircraft from yesterday.

Hawk 1 is an example of what eventually became Canada's Snowbirds but way back in 1959 the Golden Hawks thrilled many a crowd using the timeless F-86 Sabre Jet.

Here we see the worlds largest single engine biplane (Antanov An-2) and the smallest, the Pitts.

And the very well known PBY Canso flying boat was another piece of history both in Canada & the USA. I haven't seen one since attending the official de commissioning ceremony for it from RCAF use.

And in this photo we have the Vintage Wings Corsair along with the B-25 Mitchell Bomber from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

Thanks Randy.

Re the Mitchel; I have a story about a squadron of RCAF Mitchels from my early teen years. Way back when we lived in Saskatchewan (61-63) one of the major newspapers ran a front page story about a joint exercise between Canada & the US to test the different radar warning systems in place at the time (DEW , NORAD or whatever else we both had). The exercise sent squadrons of bombers to do a fake bomb run to targets all over Canada & the US. The only squadron to successful reach their target was one of our B-25 squadrons and they not only made it to the target which was in Texas they also made it back to Canada without being detected. They did it by flying just above fence post height to just over the tree tops as necessary ROUND TRIP. They must have been great pilots & I'd hate to think how many dairy cows they scared along the way.
