You've got the exposure about right, but the focus is way out.
That's OK, my first was the opposite. Now about that lens/2x combo. Were you shooting at full zoom
on the lens? I cannot discern any motion blur - from shake - so did you have the OS switched on?
And as there is no visible EXIF data, I cannot tell your shutter speed and other exposure details.

The combo is not a cheap setup, and I use the Σ50-500 and Σ2X converter for such shots. If it was hand-held, try not to use an exposure time longer than about 1/250sec with your OS ON. If on a tripod, switch OS OFF.

You should be able to shoot with the lens wide open ~f/6.3 on lens but ~f/13 with the teleconverter. You'd need about ISO400 for the full moon. A starting point anyway.
Am.

I don't have a 5D2, but I imagine that with a 2X TC you have to manually focus, correct?

In that case what you want to do is take several shots while "tweaking" the focus ring then giving time for things to settle down before taking the shot. Use either the self-timer or a remote, Mirror Lock-Up can help with the timer.

So you'll know, full moons are hard to get all the details (shadow-crater details). And, a TeleConverter can add to the "problem", so really nailing ways to optimize sharpness helps!

I agree focus is very off and the moon reflected surface is so dull.

with 5d2 you can do live view with 10x zoom for focusing. that would be plenty zoomed in to nail it first try.

also in live view, i believe autofocus should work well on the moon (use the live view focus, not the quick/phase detection). you can check focus at x10 afterwards if it managed to lock focus.
