Did you build a gearlist at GEARSHOP?

I found a $50 gift certificate in my spam folder today to use at GEARSHOP. It said I received it for building a gear list there. They also sent me a survey this week to earn an additional $10.

After I emailed them for clarification, I received this response:

The $50 GearList Credit is valid until October 31, 2013. The code is a credit
for creating a gearlist and is a valid payment option towards a camera (compact,
compact system cameras, dslr) or lens. Accessories aren't included.

Picked up a Canon 35mm f2 IS on backorder today for $540.

If you haven't set up a gear list at gearshop dot dpreview dot com, I would do so. You only have to include a couple of items and you never know when they might send out more coupons. It's owned and run by amazon dot com.

So is the coupon only good for certain brands based on your gear list or is this a universal credit?

It's a universal credit toward any camera or lens. I don't know how they decided who would receive the promotional credit, but it costs nothing to create a gear list there.

gearshop dot dpreview dot com

The Canon 35mm f2 IS dropped $50 right after I ordered it. They were happy to credit me the difference. Lens arrives tomorrow at a cost of $489.

By the way, Chase Freedom is giving 5% back in points on amazon purchases starting today (if you sign up). Chase was unable to tell me whether the GearShop would qualify, but it's worth a try if you have that card.

I have chase Amazon rewards 3% and regular Chase 0% but no Freedom so that really blows.

Amazon rewards 3% may apply? I'm not sure the Chase would have worked anyway. I sort of regret not waiting until today to order, but I "need" the lens soon and you never know when they will run out of stock. Actually, it was on back order when I ordered it.

Discover is giving 5% back on "online shopping" starting today.

Hey thanks for the tip! I built a gear list over the weekend and I got a $50 credit promo code in my email this morning.

Fantastic! Glad it worked!

Super sweet deals would be the Canon 50 f1.8 for $58 or the Canon pancake 40mm f2.8 for $99. There are also some inexpensive sigma lenses for micro 4/3's and Sony NEX mounts. Of course, you can use it on any lens or body, but the lower the listed price, the greater the percentage discount. Oh, and you get free 2 day shipping.

Thanks Barry. Your post saved me $50 as well. Of course I bought something I wasn't really planning on buying, so you may really have cost me money...but I forgive you. :)

This works out better than Best Buy/Canon Rebate error which with tax only saved me about 20 bucks on a canon 400 5.6 over Amazon. Thanks for the reminder.

Had an issue submitting my 50 dollar code...Called customer service and they put a credit in my account. I signed out and then back in and it was there. CSR said it was a known issue with no further explanation.

It looks like headship is a participant in the current mail in rebate, so you can stack the $50 off.
