USB2.0 card reader - Wish I had bought one sooner

After spending the last year using a Dazzle* USB1 card reader that came with some piece of software I bought years ago, I finally decided to spend 20 bucks and upgrade to a USB2.0 model, the Dazzle* Thunderbolt.

Dang! This thing is A LOT faster!
524 megabytes with old USB1 reader - 9 1/2 minutes
524 megabytes with new USB2.0 reader - 50 seconds!

It's like an eleven-fold increase in speed! Wish I had made this upgrade a long time ago! What boggles my mind even more is that they still sell the USB1 models in the store.

If you're in the market for a card reader, be careful what you buy. A little more money will get you A LOT more speed.

My computer has 4 USB 1.0 ports - all built in.

I hope, one day, to be able to get those same figures - congratulations.

If you have a spare PCI slot, a USB 2.0 PCI card isn't that expensive. So long as you have a reasonable recent operating system (Windows 2000 SP4 is probably sufficient), you shouldn't have any problems.
