Hello everybody,
I would like to make some high quality YouTube videos and I have some questions about what camera to buy.
I don't have much money, about 500 dollars. That means I am stuck with cheapest DSLR or maybe allround prosumer.
What I need is good stabilization, zoom and good video quality.
What do you think? What is the best camera for that money?

Something for video? I would look into something like a t3i or 60D. The flip screen is amazing for video. T3i can be purchased new with an 18-55 lens for about 550-600 dollars.

Now depending on what you are wanting to shoot other equipment could probably help with quality (such as tripods, mics, stabilizers, etc.)

Unfortunately, in my country (Serbia) 60D body only costs 990 dollars. Believe it or not...

hmmmmm how about just a T3? It does not have a flip out screen, but it would still make comparable quality videos. It is a lower MP camera for stills, but if you are doing video I believe it does both 720p and 1080p.

That is a lot for body only. Do you have any friends in the states who can ship a camera to you?

Get a GoPro Hero 3. Or at least a video camera, not a DSLR.

Create great stories, don't worry about the camera.

Casey Neistat has made some great videos with a S110 P&S camera.

Find a used T2i and a cheap 50mm f1.8 lens. Try to find a rode videomic. In addition, get magic lantern on your camera.

If you want zoom and stability, try to find a used 18-135 IS lens. You'll need the IS for handheld work. If you shoot animal videos, like I saw on your YouTube, you can also look at the Canon 55-250 IS. You'll have to try finding refurb or used lenses based on your budget. Good luck.

I'm a YouTuber too. Glad you want good quality, but it really depends on what type of video your doing. If its moving and action the GoPro3 is possibly the answer. If its an interview, then all you need is a tripod lights and a decent microphone.
You will find lighting and sound to be just as important as the camera.
And Last is, when possible keep the video short, like a music video or you loose our attention.
And next last is Monetize your video. I'm up to, right under $50 a month from my Tubes!

How do you (or how does one) make money on YouTube?

Just curious.

Thank you all for answers. I'll see what's on second hand market and I'll check out those GoPro cameras. Can someone tell me something about rolling shutter effect and when should I worry about that?
