it's not necessarily better or worse, they just have different focal lengths and apertures.

I use them both indoors (and sometimes outside) but the Sigma probably gets more use

I like mine. Make sure you test your sample for focus issues before you buy it. It has a nice way of rendering thing.

Yes. Especially considering they were substantially more a year ago before sigma announced the 35mm f/1.4. I got lucky and sold mine for the same amount I paid used ($380) about a week after sigma announced the 35mm f/1.4. I sold it before most people found out about the new 35. Had I waited another month, I would have been lucky to get $250. So yes, I would buy it. It was a great little lens for me on my 7D.

I have one, I like the IQ and bokeh it gives. I noticed you have a 60D, it does not have AF microadjustment so I would pass on this lens. The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 seems to have a few more focusing issue then the norm. Until I got my 50D which has AF microadjustment the Sigma focus was always off.

I had two of these, and actually just sold one of them today for $300. They were different from each other, both in IQ (very slight difference), and in focus. One of them, the one I kept, was dead on with my 7D with no micro adjustment. The other, I had to adjust to +11. I sold it to a guy with a 50D, and mentioned that it would probably have to be adjusted.

So yes, if you are going to buy one, bring your body and a laptop to the rendezvous. Open it up to 1.4 and spot focus on something with a lot of detail. Look at the image at 100% to see where it focused. If it's sharp in the right place, you're probably good.

All that said, I love the lens. I had two because I was playing with stereo images. I'm definitely keeping the one I have left.

at $200 there's really no reason not to buy it...give it a whirl, if you hate it sell it and make $30-$40 on it

the 35mm f1.4 didn't effect the price...the new 30mm f1.4 did though, because they had a firesale on the old 30mm

I loved mine when I had it, it was sharp yet the DOF was amazing.

I love mine... It's tack sharp and has only one issue I can easily express. It focus hunts on low contrast objects in low light... Meaning, I cannot focus lock on a solid black dog in low light... Otherwise, it's great...
