Yesterday in Goodwill I saw two of these but one was missing the top section that looks like:

HTTP response: 403 | MIME changed to 'application/xml'

So I only bought one. What should I do with it? I know there's some smart DIYers here.

I've got the part standing up not anything laying on the ground in this pic:

No see the first image. It's almost like a clevis pin.

Empty space. It's an open tube at that point.

Looks to me like the top bar would just be a telescoping rod with holes drilled in it... those holes would simply allow the clevis-like pin to fit inside.

EDIT: Here is a shot of the top bar, as I was expecting - with holes: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …bar_for_Port_A_Stand.html (external link)

EDIT 2: Like so: http://savageuniversal.com …taStand-14-091a99edb0.png (external link) ; found here: http://savageuniversal.com …round-stands/port-a-stand (external link)

That wasn't so hard, was it:

A replacement crossbar isn't particularly cost-effective:

Seems to me that you may want to go back and buy the second stand... then get it's replacement stand part:
