My daughter wanted some photos in her cheer uniform and it gave me an excuse to use my gear. Win-win situation if you ask me. :-) Here are my favorites for our quick shoot in the garage. This was also my first time use my new backdrop kit from Cowboy Studios- not too bad of a kit if I do say so. Lit with 2 speedlights( 1 bare on the background and 1 with a shoot-thru umbrella as my main) and a silver reflector for fill in #3.

You completely blew out the background in 1 with only one speed light? How did you do that?

Magic!

In all seriousness though I had to use a little trickery. You're right, 1 single speedlight wouldn't blow the backdrop like that but it did blow out most of it. The parts that didn't get blown out quite as well got some LR4 treatment- mainly behind her from about her extended knee and back. I matched the not so blown out backdrop exposure to the blown out backdrop exposure and tada! ;)

It' won't be as much work once I get another speedlight or a bigger strobe.

There's still some wrinkles and stuff in the backgrounds in 1 and 2 that I would clone out. Do you also have PS or only LR?

I have PS as well. I noticed the wrinkles in #2 once I uploaded the photos on here. Good eye. I have since cleaned that one up, just didn't upload it here. Which wrinkles are you referring to in #1?

In #1 they are all throughout the image and also in a bit of a halo around her but I have to look at my screen at an angle in order to see them easily. It is subtle but it is there. If the brightness on your monitor is too high they might be blown out on your display. Or in PS maybe throw on a curves layer to temporarily pull down the brightness of the entire image to make them easier to see.
