A quick headshot of my daughter from this past Saturday. General CC is much appreicated. Lit this with 2 speedlights (1 as my main with a shoot-thru umbrella, 1 bare right behind her aimed at the backdrop) and a silver reflector for fill.

Really well done image, Rivas!
Nothing really strikes me as needing to be changed . . . except maybe, just maybe, the glare coming off of the bow atop her head is a bit too bright. And I guess the white specks on her left shoulder could be removed. Just a very nicely done image of a really cute, happy-looking kid!

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

also you cropped it too tight should have the whole bow...or not had the bow at all...cutting it took the photo from nice portrait to snap shot....

So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

Is the bow really that important? You know the little bit that's cropped is there without atually seeing it. Kind of like you know that she she has another ear even though it's not showing.

Please don't take this reply as I'm offended, I'm not. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I welcome it all, hence why I posted this here. I'm just curious if anyone else thinks that cropping the tip of the bow is that big of an issue.

The bow sticking out the top kills it for me. You cant have anything drawing that much attention to the top of the frame and then cut it off. I would like the photo more with no bow, she is too pretty to compete with that superstructure on her head, but if its gotta be there then it all ought to be there.

Thanks for the inputs! I added a 2nd photo as well. It's not an uncropped version of the first, they just look similar.

I like the second one much better as you get the whole image. The only thing that is distracting in the second is the skin smoothing is a little overdone. Back that off a little and you have a money shot there Rivas.
I only wish I was able to get photos like that.

Try cropping it on the bottom so that the bottom of the uniform top hits the bottom of the frame. Having that narrow band of skin bothers me, but its a nit pick. (side note, I keep thinking the gray watermark band is you missing the edge of the white drop. It works on the bottom of the frame in your other thread, but not as much on the side of the verticals.)

Thanks!

I'm going to have to revisit the "skin smoothing" when I get home tonight. Both photos have the same settings (in-camera, lighting, and PP) but for some reason when I took the photos from LR4 to PS to remove a few small typical tennager skin issues and brought them back to LR4 #2 looked like that. I applied the same amount of skin smoothing in LR4 using the skin smoothing adjustment brush with calirty set at -50 to both images prior to going into PS. It's a mystery to me but thanks again for the kind words.

Gonzo, the bare midriff used to bug me in the past, but I have friends with a daughter in dance/cheerleading and anymore, if you try to avoid the bottom or end of the uniforms/costume, you never get anything in the image.

I have no problem showing the bare midriff. I have a problem showing only a sliver of it.
