downhill biking, people racing going 35-40mph around turns and off jumps
So mostly day time so I would pick 1dmk4 with its higher fps.
BTW - Your 7d can do all that, unless need another toy.

Sep 24, 2013 15:54 | #32 so hard to choose! haha I like the big full frame, professional look of the 1D Mark IV but the 5D 3 is also an AMAZING camera, the 1D is about 3-400 more used than the 5D 3 i guess it boils down to what your shooting, I'll most likely end up considering the camera that has a higher fps and more focus points Canon EOS R5, RF 15-35 f/2.8, RF 70-200 f/2.8, RF 50mm f/1.2

Got 6d, no that good for sports so picking up 5dmk3 or 1dmk4. I should say just picked 5dmk3 but want to try 1dmk4 also as sometimes I could use higher fps. AF on 5dmk3 is superb. First non 1 series which is better than so many 1 series cameras. Fuji XT-1, 18-55mm

The 7D is an excellent camera, but the 5DIII is much, much better camera. Heres why... Noise - 7D has frustratingly high noise from around 400 ISO and anything above that it gets much worse. I can get great images at 1,000 ISO but can't get anywhere near that with the 7D. This was the main reason I upgraded. AF - 5DIII is far superior in every aspect. 7D can be a bit hit and miss. Low light - 5DIII is far superior and captures better detail in shadows. Portraits - 5DIII produces sharper images and has an improved keeper rate. In short if you have the money get the 5DIII, if not get the 7D. I hope this helps. it does help alot, If i had the money id drop the 7D right now and go buy a 5DIII but even 2800 used is way way, way too much for me right now, is the IQ significantly better? I tend to use the 7D for the faster frame rate for birds in flight for example, or when I am shooting wildlife with my 100-400mm because the crop gives me a bit more reach. Anytime I am going to have to raise the ISO beyond 800 (and the 7D can be spotty at ISO 800) I reach for the 5D3. The 5D3 with 61 AF points also focuses much quicker and more accurately I find than does the 7D with 19 AF points. Anytime that focus is critical then I reach for the 5D3. I disagree that one body blows the other out of the water, both bodies have their strengths and I have no plans at this point to get rid of the 7D, it has been a fantastic camera for me and rarely lets me down. I came the 60D which is only like 8AF points so that 7D is a big step up to me haha, I've never shot th 5D3 but coming from a 7D i feel it would be godly with 61 AF points Canon EOS R5, RF 15-35 f/2.8, RF 70-200 f/2.8, RF 50mm f/1.2

Also, the 1D IV is a lot bigger camera, which would mean even more bulk if you want to carry both cameras in your bag.

I am able to fit a 5D3, 7D, 17-40L, 24-105L, 100-400L and 40mm f/2.8 pancake, plus filters and other accessories, in a Lowepro Flipside 400AW backpack that fits in the smaller overhead bin of a small, regional airplane. I've never been one to use a grip on my cameras, though, because I do not want the added bulk. So, take my comment with that in mind. wait the 1d Iv is a cropped sensor?? The good thing is, f/8 AF on the 1D, to help make up for that 1-stop loss of light from the 1.4x TC. I had no idea, id rather get a 5d mark iii Canon EOS R5, RF 15-35 f/2.8, RF 70-200 f/2.8, RF 50mm f/1.2
