I would have rather had the focus more towards the front of the image. The back bowl and window appear to be in focus, but the foreground object, which is one of the more interesting parts of the image is OOF.

I'm curious why the front part is more interesting? It's a wash basin so I focused inside the "bowl"

Thanks!

It's not that it's more interesting, to me at least. It's just an element of composition that I notice on my own shots. The window and windowsill are the "background". Your subject are the 2 pieces of the wash basin. So, the eye should be drawn to those two things first. The eye is always drawn to the sharpest part of the image. In this case, the back basin is fine, but it almost looks like the back basin and the window are the subject. If it were me, I'd have enough DOF to have the 2 basin pieces in focus, and the window more blurred out.

I'll moderate my previous comment with this: In your photo, we're talking about minute adjustments. It's not like things are WAY OOF. the DOF in-focus section can simply scoot forward by an inch or so, IMO. So it's pretty close.

Do you have a white or grey roll of paper that you can use behind the subjects? The green of outdoors and the vertical in the doorframe draw attention from the patterns of your washbasins.

Thanks for sharing!

1D-III with stuff to stick on it:
70-200L, 28-70L, 24-105L, 300L, 50, 10-17 fish, 2.0x TC
Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!

This was in a museum, so didn't have that option :)

I think Puckman explained it better than I did. I did mention moving the focus forward and that was described better by Puckman.
What I meant by more interesting is that the basin's themselves appear to be what you were focusing on as your subjects. I personally love the detail of wood, and especially older wooden utensils and objects, so it would be more interesting, to me, to see the grain of the front basin in focus with the window being the one out of focus.
I hope that makes more sense.

Yup, and now that you've made me "see it" I couldn't agree more.
