Heylo POTN,

So I'm probably about to pull the trigger on a 24-70 L f/2.8 Mark 1. Not too worried, and I'm not exactly understanding the whole date code stigma yet, but the lens I'm looking at begins with US11. I take it that means it was made November of 2004? Were there any manufacturing issues or anything with the 24-70 f/2.8's back then? Is the lens likely to be soft or anything? The previous owner said that it had minimal use and that's why he's selling it.

Just wondering!

Thanks. :)

Yes a US code does stat it is a 2004 lens, thats a great lens I'm sure it will be fine no matter what year it is , your just going to have to just shoot with it and see, if something is wrong with it you will know, dont stress over issues that might not be there, enjoy the lens

Alrighty.

It's just a big purchase, so of course I'm a bit nervous.

Is this a local sale and will you be able to test it out before buying it?? Just make sure you do the obvious checks before pulling the trigger, good luck!!

I hear you on dropping a lot of money on the unknown, it can be scary. If it doesnt look or feel right don't do it

my 2 cents :)

It's an online sale.

He has a good rep on POTN and eBay. I *think* it should be okay.
