im thinking you could find a more interesting angle to shoot. the side of the building is too prominent and offer nothing to capture interest. maybe feature the sign and front porch more?

Here's my attempt at straightening the first image, adjusting exposure slightly and w/b. I also darkened the sky using the highlights slider.

Thanks Navy, I like the adjusted exposure on the building, but on my calibrated monitor the sky looks way to "blue" and unnatural around the tree on the right.

Good catch, and you caught me :)

Matter of taste I guess, I see the sky as cyan as well, but that is about how it looked that day.
