The uneven exposure kills it for me along with the book on the counter (perhaps a ledger?) that's cut off. Maybe instead of using a bounce card to bounce light onto the counter you could have turned the flash head around and up so that it's aimed over the back of your head up at a 45 degree angle or so. You'd have probably gottena more even spread of light that way.

Not really sure what you're going for with this shot, it's not particualrly intersesting (subjectively of course). I keep looking for something to look at but all I can think is, "That's a lot of stuff organized very neatly."

Was this a museum or something?

Hrm, good idea with the flash, but that's why I post up stuff I do looking for better ways to do them :)

Yes, it is a museum, a general store actually - if you look you'll see I've been putting up many photos related to this museum lately and I'm looking for ways to improve these types of images.

Thanks!

Looks like some fine woodwork there; maybe zoom out for a wider shot?

My first thought was that this is organized by a very neat person.

Not sure what it full look was like at the museum, but I would have hoped that the museum installation would have som articles on the counter or something just as if this was a still active shop where a deal or two was currently about to be negotiated. Somewhere, there is a need for some hint that there are some form of activity and not a static presentation of neatness.

That would be the ledger that alas I cut off somewhat :(

Yes, but I would have liked it if the museum had had a roll of cloth or something else on the counter just as if the shop owner were busy selling something right now, but just happened to walk out of line of sight for a couple of seconds.

If the museum left it too tidy, I'm not blaming you but the museum.

You should see this place, well you sort of can as I keep putting photos of it up, it's immaculately clean everywhere. If you ran a white glove on any surface it would come up white :)
