So I just got a 6D. I love it. I have the T4i listed for sale. I need opinions though. I really like my 1Ds but after getting the 6D, I'm not sure if I'll be needing it any longer.

So my question is: what do you all think? Would I just be wasting shelf space by keeping the 1Ds? I'm sure I can find reasons to use it but I think the 6D might very quickly become my go-to.

I know, I'm very indecisive.

And I get mad at my girlfriend when she won't pick a restaurant! bw!

If it was me, I would sell both bodies (1ds1 and Ti) and get some lenses. All depends on what you shoot though.

MORE lenses? I mean, I know there's lots I don't have but I think I may be fairly well covered.

Do you shoot for pleasure or business :P

If pleasure: sell both

If business: Keep at least 1 other body :)

Mostly pleasure but I am working to turn it into more than that.

Then it may be cheaper to keep one of them rather than buying another body down the road :)

I keep them. 5d3 and 7d compliment each other in accomplishing different tasks. old rebel and 10d are good for remotes and experiments. Still pull out my Canon film body on occasion. The need is less and if the funds can make a big difference in glass or lighting then by all means no need to collect dust, but sometimes a camera you're willing to take risks with (remote, ir sensor mod, time lapse shutter count climb) is a good thing.

Can never have enough lenses.:) All depends on what you shoot, like I said. I would take 70-200mm f2.8 IS II for 70-200mm zooms. Something like 35L or Sigma 35mm f1.4 or maybe 135mm L.

Of course, never enough haha. I shoot mostly studio glamour/fashion/dynamic posing and artistic creative concepts. When I do get out of the studio, I like to explore abandoned places or roam the woods but almost always I will have a model I'll be focusing on. I don't do landscapes or architecture or nature. I don't need a 70-200 as I think the 80-200 is one of Canon's best zoom lenses in that or any focal range. I know I'll be flamed for this but I prefer to stick only with Canon brand lenses. Unless there comes a way to use the Sigma 18-35 on FF haha. 35 is close enough tothe 40 and 50 that I don't really need that. The 85 or 135 are possibilities of course. Too many options! I know I need to sell at least one of the extra cameras, I just don't know which one or if it should just be both and simplify my life.

i'd sell the t4i... Just becuase I think it'd be fun to have the 1ds.. though I guess you'll be reach limited per-se, but it sounds like that wouldn't be an issue for what you'd shoot.

Oh I do live the 1ds. Feels like a tank in my hands and takes great pictures. I'm just not sure if it has a place any longer with my 6d. Oh, I am going to start being a second shooter for weddings with a friend of mine. Don't know if that matters.

I'd sell the 1Ds and keep the T4i.... I use full frame and crop cameras together, the two can complement each other nicely. For me, there's less reason to keep two FF cameras.

But that's me and you are you....

If your friend who you might second shoot for uses Canon gear, you might not need backup. Otherwise, that would be an argument to keep both FF cameras.

He's a Nikon user. It would be unwise to use the t4i as a backup? Wouldn't the iso limitations of the 1ds hinder it from being a useful wedding backup?

I would not go from having a 1-series to not having a 1-series.

I always find a (exc)use to hold onto my cameras. My 1Dmk2 is continually married to the Sigma 150-500 and sits in the truck. I was forever missing shots of the herons that populate the swamps around the plant. The moose. Black bear and cubs.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.
