Well, not as fancy, nor does it have the same range...

But what do you want for a tenth of the price?

Or you could go the Yongnuo route.

I have that Canon RC-6. It is IR, and doesn't work very well standing behind the camera. The receiver is at the front of body. If you can arrange the angle, it works OK.

Over $200, wow, no way. I've been using an RF type release for a few years now that I got from Adorama. It's not made anymore, but I'm sure there's something out there that would work for under $100.

I've tried the IR route, it was not very effective. I like the RF trigger route, much more reliable/flexible; Pocket wizards can price out to about what that Nikon setup goes for, Yungnuos are about $30; depending on your uses; the cost may or may not be justified. Just make sure you get the right cable for between the transmitter and the camera.

What i loved about this nikon thing is the size. I have a shutter release that has a cable. It works, no problem. It is just i always try to get less cables and have things that are small and effective. Loved this nikon thing...

I recently got this. It works well & doesn't use batteries if you use it from the camera. $17 + shipping.

I have, and constantly use, THIS (external link) (though obviously not from this source, got mine in the UK at THIS (external link) supplier).

Also available on eBay at ThePhotoGadget (external link)

15 channels so no interference from similarly equipped folks, interchangeable camera cables so not dedicated to a single fitting (I use mine with my 5D Mk 3, occasionally with my little G10 and when I pop over to Ireland it also fits my protogé's Nikons) and can be used either wireless and wired (though I've never actually used it wired). Basically, it does what it says on the box. Most useful little item and highly recommended.

Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

This is big....check the nikon one, you barely see it, it is so tiny. I can obviously find a wireless release for canon, i was just wondering if canon has something so tiny and advanced. This nikon thing was awesome....

Seen it this week, small, compact and really great on location.

If you're still looking for the remote I'd suggest checking Amazon. I bought one that works great on both my 7D & 5D III, not to mention only costing around $20. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the unit at the moment, but the name of the unit is Pixel Pro or something similar as I recall.

It operates on AAA batteries (I use Eneloops) that work perfectly & last a long while. This unit operates on RF & functions great through walls, etc. It's rated up to 100 yards, though in my use, which has been much less, it's never failed me.

Sorry I couldn't have been more precise with the info, but it shouldn't be hard to locate.

7D, 5D III - 70-200 f/4L IS, 28-135, 24-105 f/4L IS, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 VC, Tokina 16-28 f2.8, Tamron 1.4x TC, Nifty Fifty
