Watch the background. This might be more interesting if you framed it against something more plain. I don't know if that was possible at this location. That chair and panel running dead center isn't helping either. Half of the glasses cut off on the book is a little distracting too. I do think the elements on the table could make an interesting photo though.

This like most of the shots I've been posting lately are in a museum setting, so my changes to the settings are limited if not Nill.

Either come closer and fill all frame with main subjects or step back and let the other part of study work as well. Now it's a tad half cooked :]

Would you mind showing me a crop of what you would consider closer? Stepping back was an option and something to think about.

Need to seperate the subjects from the background more. The feather and pitcher are blending into the dark spots of the bg.

I agree a different angle might have been better. I would have maybe tried to shoot down onto the table so that the table itself was the background. When in doubt get as many angles as you can and try to be creative.
