That's a better edit. Personally I think you just need a very low opacity layer of proper skin tone, with texture.

With it lown out like that you might get away with it in screen, but as a print it will be very obvious.

Nice edit Grizz!

Hi Gene. Maybe the highlight was put back a bit much, it created halo on his vest (right shoulder).

OK, here's my first try at removing the glare. Not perfect (I can see a couple of mistakes I made) but I think I'm on the right track.

Against my better judgement, here's a shot he took of me at that time. :D At least it shows the advantage of wearing some kind of head gear in that kind of sun...oh, and of not shaving ones head too. ;)

That would be my white Prius parked next to me acting like a large reflector. :D

Gene, your edit shows footprints of the clone stamp. I'd like to hear from Grizz on his technique.
Prius? I figured you for a Hummer (a boat!) or a Caddy.

Yep, that was one of the mistakes I referred to and is fixed. Oh, I used the clone tool in 'darken' blend mode. I wonder if that's the technique used by Grizz.

As for personal transportation, I've always been a sportscar/muscle car kind of guy. My first car was a 1962 Austin Healy Sprite Mark II for example. I've owned Porsches and Pontiac GTO's. I have owned a Jeep CJ5 and a Chevy S10 4x4 too. I suppose I just got conservative in my old age with the Prius. ;)

I've also owned and lived on a 33' Stephens Sedan Cruiser built in 1946. It was all wood construction with teakwood decks and mahogony wood superstructure. This isn't it but mine looked very similar.

I like this too. I envy those wrinkles, though I also don't. You get it.

Thanks very much. I thought I'd mention that that is a 100% crop which I think speaks very highly of the Sigma 35mm Lens I used.

I also earned every one of those wrinkles and they all have a story behind them. 8-)

To be honest, I'm with Peeaanuut...I wouldn't edit the glare in the first shot. I think a lot of pictures are ruined by too much (or even a little in some cases) post processing. In real life his head was probably that shiny, and if you hadn't brought specific attention to it by the thread, I would simply have viewed it for what it is, and exceptional portrait.

Both of the portraits are good for that matter. The DoF is incredibly narrow but the focus is spot on, and with a nice bokeh. I'd be proud to have taken either of them.

(Of course take this with a grain of salt, I'm a complete noob to photography, but not so new I don't have an opinion yet:lol:).

If you'll forgive me for putting one of my photos in your thread, I'll show you what I'm talking about. This photo was my first real portrait shot, I simply asked two Marines who were walking by after a wedding if I could snap a shot of them and they were good sports. My background was as unsightly as a bus and some cars, the shadows are too dark, with no fill, and the medals are too shiny. But aside from vignetting, I didn't want to change any of it. I like the underexposed shadows and too shiny medal. I think "fixing" it would have made the photo worse in my case:

I just used the clone tool in PS CC, used the lasso tool to select the cloned area, added a little noise, jumped back to LR and used an adjustment brush to smooth out the noise a little, and another adjustment brush to tweak the saturation in that area to try and make it look as natural as possible. I also thought it was fine with the glare. :)
