A rider to my homeowner's insurance specifies full replacement value if the repair is over 50 percent of it.

Hi guys! Sorry I disappeared after suggesting a meet (though there wan't much response, haha). I proceeded to spend Thursday -> Monday in the hospital. Apparently if you tell someone in the ER that you're having chest pains, they take it pretty damn seriously.

Things I learned about this fun trip to the hospital (fun used quite sarcastically) :
1) Make sure the leads on the EKG are on correctly. We suspect there was one backwards that caused my first EKG to have a key difference in the subsequent EKGs that caused concern (T-wave inversion)
2) Although the TV says it costs $4 to activate and $7 a day, if you never call the extension provided and just change the channel, it usually works.
3) When they tell you they'll let you go home after the exertion part of the stress test, don't believe them. They wont.
4) Nurses are amazing. Hospitalists, however, can have the bedside manor of warm mayonnaise. And I use that term specifically since cold mayonnaise at least makes sandwiches better.
5) If you're independent and they let you, walk around. Don't just lie in bed.
6) Isotope injections taste like copper. No, really.
7) Hematomas are apparently commonplace after Radial Cardiac Catheter Procedures. Try not to freak out if you get one five minutes after you're discharged like I did.

And finally,
8) I apparently do not only NOT have blockages, but I also don't have coronary artery disease (significant plaque buildup). In fact, the stress test nurses were impressed by how much they had to have me do in order to get my heart rate up to the target of 85% of my calculated maximum heart rate (158 bpm for those of you playing along at home). Not only do I not need to take a daily aspirin, but I don't even need statins (cholesterol meds).

First, thank G-d, you are fine. That's the only thing that is important. A few days in a hospital is just a minor nuisance.

A year ago I spent three nights in a hospital after a surgery. My only complain was that these nice nurses woke me up at night every hour on the hour to measure my blood pressure! I think I slept two days straight after they released me...

oh, agreed. Nurses are angels that walk this earth. They put up with so much crap, it's uncanny. I'm glad I was able to be 'the easy patient'. While I was on the cardiac floor and that required somewhat frequent vitals.. they didn't have to help me do anything, etc..

I had to read that a few times, but (I think) what you mean to say is you have a clean bill of health. That's awesome.

This is the sort of game I love to play. Two common formulas to calculate max heart rate are 220-Age and 206.9 minus 2/3rds Age. I put those into a chart:

Nurses are amazing and the crap they put up with is insane. They still keep their cool and take care of you. That is why I'm always nice to them whenever I am at a hospital. It's a stressful job with little reward.

Hey guys! Have been MIA for a while, checking in to say hello! Are you still doing occasional get-togethers? Anything planned in the near future?

Did the cold remind you, as it did the rest of us, that a meet is long overdue?

I'm open to a meet - would be nice to get outside of Boston. We're thinking of going up this coming weekend to see the Ice Castle in New Hampshire: http://icecastles.com/lincoln/ (external link)... probably not a great weekend to go up there with the snow forecasts. We'll most definitely find another time... will let folks know when we're headed up, even if not an official meet.

I wanted to go up until I read there will be two feet of snow this weekend.

Is that a public link, Scott? Using my phone, it asks for a login/password.
