Is that a public link, Scott? Using my phone, it asks for a login/password.

Oops. Forgot to remove a bit of the URL. Should work now. Thanks!

Did the cold remind you, as it did the rest of us, that a meet is long overdue?

it did :) I remember one meet we had when it was really cold and you had your jump rope.

Speaking of cold....how about that trip to Iceland :P

I remember the 1st meet up i joined in with - pre-jump rope.

Brendan took us all over the place as always, and it was so **** freezing, I was happy to burn my mouth on a hot DD coffee, just to even attempt to thaw out...

I am doing MBA classes at BU on mon/tues nights, so those nights are out for meeting up for me...

I was thinking about doing that program, too. I have a friend who did the evening program at BU.

I remember a fried chicken run in East Boston. What was that place called... does anyone remember? It was a pit stop for Brendan to use their facilities... in the meantime, we got some cassava fries... delicious.

Finally got around to posting my "Photos of the Year"... check it out if you got a minute.

https://scott-eisen-n15f.squarespace.com/2015-photos-of-the-year/ (external link)

Wonderful mix of images. I really like some of the simpler shots, like the "reaction shot" of the young woman in the sports bar. and of course all that damn Snow! (did you have to remind us of theat NOW! next time post that in the summer!)

On a side note, thank you for the whale photo. I've been a student of whales and behavior etc. since I was a wee child. Used to draw images of whale skeletons based on memory from the museum trips my parents would take me on, etc.
Until i saw your photo, I could never quite put together the relationship of what a Baleen whales skull ends up looking like vs, the head, which takes up maybe 7 times as much area as the skull. Your image shows it pretty clearly, and I can't recall ever seeing another that did so quite as well.

I concur, a great set of shots, Scott!!

Turning to you guys first... Came home and found that our Nest detected a problem with its power supply... apparently the HVAC was not on, period. I went down and checked the fuses and the power to the HVAC. Couldn't find a problem. No luck. I opened one panel to the HVAC and had no idea what I was looking at. Opened the other panel and there's a bunch of wires. Just as I was looking at it, my imposing presence caused the HVAC to fire up on its own and I now hear the fan on. All's back to normal.

What gives? Any advice? Reminds me... I need to change the filter.

Did you have a power outage? Could be faulty wiring too and when you popped open the panel, it had s connection again.

First thing to do is shut power down to the unit itself from the breaker. Then inspect wiring.

Nest takes it's power via the HVAC unit, if I remember correctly. Strange that it should detect a problem and shut down. No override.

Has this happened before, or is this the first time it has detected a problem?

can't be a power surge or anything like that happening, because your fuses would blow out, and cut off the system. You have had the nest for a while now too, so it can't be a faulty installation either.

Anything on Nest's website about possible network issues that could do this?
