Next question: why a LBS over say...a B+W 3.0 ND?

This is the article I relied on before buying a Big Stopper. http://www.rubbingpixels.com …top-vs-bw-10-stop-review/ (external link)

Oh yeah... I haven't really gotten into landscape photography, but I figure it's better to invest in square and rectangular filters.

Andrew, the B&W 3.0 ND that I had (and almost everyone I know that has shot with one) has given the images a red cast. My Big STopper doesn't do so. That's one thing, there are a few other advantages (square filters don't strip filter threads).

Also - A big stopper (by itself, $140) is cheaper than an 82mm B+W 3.0 ND ($210). With the Lee Filter system ($88) and a few adapter rings (82mm, $60 and 77mm, $60), it gets expensive but ultimately more versatile. You could use very cheap step down rings to adapt the B+W, of course... but then I go back to the versatility of square and rectangle filters.

I think with the Big Stopper being a beast of the piece of glass, you can really get some good long exposure shots, esp in bright conditions...

You can't even tell that it was snowing like sob in this one:

I have a B+W 10 stop 77mm filter and I use step down rings for my smaller lenses. I find it gives good results, but I'm planning on buying the Lee Big Stopper so that I can use it with GNDs and so it's easy to take on and off. Here's a couple shots with the B+W:

Wow, great shots.

You guys may have convinced me. When I have the funds available I may pull the trigger, tho it seems many places have it on backorder.

Got some scans back from Colortek.

I really love the look of film.

What products do you guys & gals use for cleaning your lenses?

I use a rocket-blower with a hepa-filter attached:

microfiber clothes and the Canon cleaning fluid I got when I purchased a lens

i bought my Big Stopper kit from 2filters.com

yes, i had to wait, but they were good for buying filters.

Thanks for reminding me about that place. I got my GNDs there.

Does anyone also use the 105mm adapter and 105mm circular polarizer? I"m thinking to upgrade to make everything work nicely together. Thinking about getting the Sigma 105mm polarizer.
