I have $60 of ebay bucks that expire in 2 days.

Hmm should I get a 100L Macro? I've been wanting one for a while to take pics of shrimp in my aquarium lol

ninja re-edit- looks like I can get a 100 non-L for under 300 bucks with the ebay bucks. Might be a sure win, gotta read up on macro lens reviews

I'm not going to say that it's impossible, but I'd be VERY surprised if you're able to find one for under $300. Just make sure that whatever you're looking at is f/2.8 (many f/2's are advertised as macro) and that it's an EF mount and not a FD mount.

hey dude, how's the lexus?
major typo in my original post. It's possible under $300 since most used are around $320-350. With my $60 ebay bucks, it goes under $300.

Got rid of it and picked up an evo X. Miss the feel of the evo 8 and top end power of the lexus, but love the dual clutch tranny and awd system of the X.

Yep, sub $300 is definitely possible, but still make sure it's not an FD mount - just looked on there and it seems there are a lot of those for sale. I also have a non-L version if you want to test it out, but if you only have two days to use the ebay bucks it might be pointless.

What about batteries, memory, card readers, microfiber lenscloths, lenspens, camera straps, bags... dude, so much I could think of spending $60 on?

I have 11 straps aftermarket. And I've reduced to two bodies.

Bought a 50 pack of lens pens when I was in Asia last summer. Gave many if them away. They are dispersed everywhere. And I never use them.

I have 4 pelicans. 2 rollers. 1 backpack and 2 messenger bags and some other random purses lol

I Gave away 9 batteries when I sold my 5d2 bodies. I still have 4. Completely spaced out that the mark3 uses the same ones

Batteries and Memory cards I have plenty from shooting video gigs.

Looking at eBay. Looks like there's 7-8 canon 100 non-L macros from Korea and Japan. Think they are safe? Be a nightmare if I get sent a 100 macro coffee mug thermo instead. Figured they would be grey market. But canon kinky lists bodies as grey market if bought outside of US. They don't keep track of glass. 320 shipped minus 60 eBay bucks. And I have my $300 gc from the last canon rebate. Might pick up the kenko extensions too.

Will prob look it over on desktop tonight instead of ipad/iPhone to make sure.

I've been wantIng a macro for shooting my aquarium for personal use. Doesn't look like the all is worth the money since I don't see myself using the macro much other than a few shrimp pics etc. the 135L is super glued to my camera all the time for everything else. I want a 24-70 v2 but that's a huge stretch from 300-400$.

Gave away 9 batteries... hahahahahaha... and you have the 5d3... sorry man

I just spent $90 each on 2 used Nike+ GPS watches from eBay. i always manage to figure out something to waste my money on.

Been wondering if I should get Kenkos... then one of my friends left me his 5D2 and 100L Macro for indefinite use, since he is married to his Rolleis and Hassies. I'd still like to get closer though... Maybe Kenkos... hmmm.

Yep, my gf test drove an MR (at first she refused b/c it wasn't a manual) and we both fell in love with the transmission (or at least I did), so she's now driving a white X and I have a black one. Incredibly quick off the line, but falls on its face in the upper rpms, so it'll probably be upgrade/mods time for me this spring.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with macro, but it looks like there are a lot of non-USM version available from Japan, which can make a huge difference when getting closer to subjects. When the barrel extends it can often bump into things/disrupt stuff and be a pita.

Kenko extension tubes are excellent, but af is usually pretty temperamental, although the primary reason for going with Kenko is to be able to adjust the aperture (as opposed to tubes w.o electronics).

ya didn't realize the 5dm3 used same batteries.
i figured the tubes and a macro lens would be fun to pick out since i really haven't been wanting anything else.

i had to reread about your friend. thought he dumped his photo gear cus he got MARRIED lofl.

no clue on the 65mm. I know the 60 is efs only. i'll have to check that out too

i looked at a sigma 105mm but i dunno if i'm 100% convinced on the sigma stuff.. I have a fisheye which works great. all the reviews on the other lenses seem inconsistent. people either hate it or love it. canon (and zeiss) fanboi.

Head over to the Macro section and check out LordV, Brians got some crazy voodoo macro mojo skills and uses the 65 a lot.
